Too many resources

I love learning Italian but one caveat is that there are too many good resources (both free and to purchase) to choose from. I now own about 10 workbooks both in Italian and English (mostly Italian) plus several short story books.

I’m a beginner and I feel that each workbook has something to offer. I feel a bit overwhelmed at times. How do you all choose just 1-2 main books?

Cortina Method

Has anyone tried using the Cortina method to learn Italian? I’m currently reading the book and it seems a bit out dated?

I’m a beginner learner. I do like that that the phonetic spellings are included but not quite sure I should continue reading it. Also, isn’t the meaning of pranzo lunch?

Italian pronunciation checkers/apps

Hello. I’m a beginner learner and wondering if there are apps to check my accent/pronunciation? I’m reading short stories out loud but would like to know if the “flow” of the sentences I’m reading are correct.

Thank you!

Passalacqua

Back from my vacation. I can’t wait to finally try this Passalacqua Harem blend from Bar Mexico in Naples 🇮🇹. Perfect for Mokapot!

Definite and Indefinite article

Ciao a tutti. I’ve been learning for two months and a bit confused. My apologies for asking but can anyone help me explain the use of definite or indefinite article?

I understand a bit about grammatical genders but how do I know when to use for example, the word is casa (feminine). Why is it La casa and not Una casa?

Grazie.

Tricolor

I just returned from Italy and brought back this little beauty from Bialetti in Naples. It was so hard not to bring every Moka pot back! ☺️ #bialetti

Italian Schools

Hello everyone! I’ve just returned from Italy and I’m more determined now to learn the language.

Can anyone recommend a language school in Italy that they have personally attended? I’m looking for a school which is accessible to public transportation and offer 1-2 week courses. Grazie!

How do you stop translating in your head?

I’m an A1 language learner and only started a month ago.

I translate in my head all the time and I know that this is normal at this stage. But how does one stop doing this and the benefit? I’m just trying to understand. Thank you!

Does anyone use Claude to practice speaking Italian?

I just downloaded Claude and added prompts so that I can use it as an AI tutor. Mainly for conversational/speaking practice.

While I like it, the accent is not Italian. It says Pair-fa-voray instead of per favore 😂. Does anyone use Claude for Italian?
