I got out the Marines about a month ago as a Cpl after spending 3 years of my life living in Japan and traveling across the Pacific. It was pretty awesome seeing another side of the world, cross training with the JGSDF, ROKMC, etc. I went to MEPS in 2021 but went to boot camp in the summer of 2022. Joined mostly since I couldn't find a job and needed some benefits.

I've spent the majority of my time in the military in Okinawa but went to mainland Japan and South Korea for some pretty cool training exercises. Whether it was getting blackout drunk and partying in Shibuya/Shinjuku or freezing my ass off trying not to die of hypothermia near the DMZ, I'll always cherish the memories I had while in.

I was a comms bubba working closely with Motor Tuh in a logistics unit but I got TAD to WTI for some time as a duty driver/DNCO which was cool tbh. Getting to see another side of the Marine Corps and going home every night after spending years being away was just badass.

Every weekend me and my friends would get off work we'd make our way to American Village or Gate 2, get absolutely plastered and then taxi out to Naha where we'd either end the night at Epica, Top Tree or one of the strip clubs out there. I remember just sitting there with my friends talking and laughing with the dancers while drinking and watching random boots (new guys) get whipped on stage by the dancers fr. I even got to talking to one about possibly moving to mainland with her while living off the GI Bill at the American university in Tokyo but allat fell apart though.

It wasn't until I returned to Okinawa from WTI that my love for the Corps fell apart. My unit went through an entire day and night transformation with a ton of garrison drill field SNCOs with no deployment time walking everywhere. Our command deck was no different. My reenlistment package came back and I received orders to 1st Marine Regiment HQCO but I denied orders due to seeing how ass backwards their command was on NotInRegz ans Boot Check.

So yeah, any vets on here?
