Persistent dry eye/Redness in eyes
I have been dealing with dry eyes for over 4 months now, and my eyes are persistently red. Since going to a dry eye specialist, I am feeling more confused, defeated, and feel like I am wasting money.
To summarize:
· I have 30% meibomian gland atrophy at 27.
· She states my scrimers test, and TBUT are normal
· Stated there is level 1 inflammation on the lower part of eye, and level 1 MGD, and corneal staining. Also stated oil glands are "plugged"
· She stated lower TBUT, and MGD only in the lower part of eyes
· She presumed some type of autoimmune disorder/thyroid dysfunction and I tested my T4, T3, TPO and TSH, and a full allergen panel.
o T4,T3 and TSH all came back normal, and TPO, TSI and TRAB came back negative. Allergen panel came back fully negative.
· I was prescribed flurometholone 2x a day for 2 weeks, then 1x a day for 2 weeks, and now currently off the anti inflammatory.
I am currently using optohylase hydrating drops 3x a day, 15 minutes of heated eye mask daily, and a night eye mask to sleep. I have a follow-up visit in 3 weeks. I have visited this specialist 5 times, and she is the only one in my entire city (small city) and is very expensive. I don't see any progress, nor do her records indicate any progress. All the diagnostic markers are still the same as they were when I first visited. I am hoping maybe someone here has experienced something similar and has some product/lifestyle suggestions I can try, or something to present to the specialist that she can investigate that maybe hasn't been addressed. This is not only ruining my mental state, but my life honestly.
