It was definitely low to nearly no vision cause it allowed me to get very close and I caught it easily (I wore gloves but didn’t even have to touch it as I placed a large mason jar around it that will be sanitized thoroughly). It could still fly but didn’t get far before going back to the ground. I have already dropped him off at a rehabber in a well ventilated box (don’t worry it wasn’t in the mason jar for long and that too had ventilation). She initially said it was likely a severe case of conjunctivitis. But I’m not sure that is what this is. The smaller pink growth moved as its eye moved. I’ve already taken down my feeders and am reconsidering my set up and if I should have any at all if they are contributing to whatever this is.

UPDATE: the rehabber said, “this is the worst case of conjunctivitis I’ve seen in all my years.” 😢 She gave the little guy antibiotics and pain medication. Noted he was very underweight due to not being able to find food. While she doesn’t expect him to live much longer, she said he was eating a ton. Whatever happens, he’s in comfort and being well taken care of now. Send him some good vibes! I’ll update again if I hear more about how he’s doing.
