Hi, my name is Ellie. I make music mainly in the triphop/pop genre. I mainly do music from home, but have been booked for several shows this year. I went back and forth on how I would do this, because although I do play instruments, much of my music is electronic based in FL Studio, so performing acoustically would not do my music justice. I also considered just having a CD with backing tracks, but this feels cheap to me.

A big part of my music involves vocal manipulation, I sound drastically different in many of my songs, and I use lightweight vocal pitch/formant shifters to achieve this.

A solution I have found right now is using a cheap USB interface with FL Studio, panning all my backing tracks to the left, and my vocal track to the right, giving the venue two mono signals. It works in concept and practice, and the latency on my vocal chain is pretty invisible, but it feels so janky.

What I am ideally looking for is an interface (that works with FL Studio) that also functions like a mixer. Something that would be compatible with my DAW, and provide low latency for my vocal effects, and be able to send out multiple outputs (left backing track signal, right backing track signal, mono vocal, maybe a guitar if it had enough inputs for it). MIDI capability would be ideal as well, in case I wanted to perform with one. Also having the usual mixer knobs would be handy for making live changes and triggering effects on the fly.

I've done a lot of research on this for the past two weeks, but can't seem to find any recs for my particular needs. I have a tentative budget of maybe $300, but I would be willing to invest more if there is a perfect device out there that could do everything I have described. I plan on playing shows more regularly so finding a good piece of gear to do all of this would be an incredibly worthwhile investment. Any feedback or suggestions would be very appreciated.

This is an issue that has been posted here probably a dozen times, but I haven't seen a situation quite like mine posted.

My girlfriend and I pay for a 1 gbps plan on Xfinity. We both have our own offices down the hall from each other in our apartment. The router is stationed right next to her, where she has a direct ethernet connection, and gets the full speed of our plan. Meanwhile, a 50 foot cat 6 cable goes from the other port in that router to my pc down the hall. And no matter what I do, I am capping at 100 mbps. I have tried everything, updating my ethernet driver, trying a different cable, changing the usual settings for this, but nothing has worked, and the solution at that point in many posts about this is the cable. But here's the thing, the cable works flawlessly on my girlfriend's pc, she gets the full internet speed, but that same cable is bottlenecking my pc at 100 mbps. I am kind of at the end of my rope here, I ordered a USB to ethernet adapter that may solve the issue, but this should not be an issue. The motherboard is capable of 1 gbps speeds, my drivers are updated, and this cable is clearly not faulty. What else have I not ruled out? Any help would be appreciated, I consider myself tech savvy but this one is getting away from me and I am kind of losing my mind.

hi, i’m a recently full time musician/artist and i sell features pretty regularly. whenever i send over vocal stems, the only things i do are light vocal tuning and basic cleanup (noise reduction, pops and clicks, etc) i don’t do anything else because i want the person on the receiving end to have free reign to mix my vocal how they see fit in the song. personally if somebody sent me fully mixed vocals for a track i would be annoyed because it would force me to reverse engineer and make it fit my track.

however i’ve had a couple people seem a little annoyed/surprised when i send back unmixed vocals, so i’m wondering what is the agreed standard and etiquette for this type of thing? what are you all’s preferences when sending/receiving vocal tracks?

EDIT: wow this got downvoted to all hell everytime i post on reddit i remember why i usually don't LOL i was just curious about other people's preferences, thanks for everybody leaving really thoughtful opinions about it tho! i might just start including both whenever i'm sending vocals for now on just to be safe :)

hello everybody! so the other day i went to a thrift shop with my gf and she pointed out a weird looking device in one of the bins, low and behold it was a wacom pth-660 pro medium tablet for $15! i myself am a 3d artist so i decided to take a gamble on it and take it home, and i plugged it in and installed the drivers and it's fully functional, very exciting!

i use a incredibly cheap huion tablet, the pen obviously doesn't work on the wacom. i wanted to see if anybody here has this particular model and what options are available for compatible pens/styluses. i know maybe getting a wacom brand one is probably ideal, but i am not opposed to buying a third party one so long as it works ok on this particular tablet. the work i do is very rudimentary so i'm not pressed for something super ultra fancy. any suggestions would be cool! thank u!
