Unfrozen is developing and Hooded Horse is publishing. Ubisoft is still the IP owner and co-publisher of the Heroes franchise, but very much hands off on this title - which is great.

here is a Q&A from 10 months ago where it says "Ubisoft will remain involved as the holder of the Heroes IP, and continue to fully support the project." - whatever that means.

just wanted to share that this OG Ubisoft banger IP has a new release in early access which is so far well received, and Ubisoft does not play a major role in developing nor publishing.

first of all: do NOT get this game from an official looking website. according to the discord server they are all fake and you potentially risk getting malware or whatever.

with that out of the way, the game runs fine

i only played it for 10 minutes before reporting on the discord that the Magmi Air X can be added to the confirmed devices list and writing this post.

Some stutters or lags are there, i have had a 5 second freeze, some loading times seem longer than expected. And the text isnt displayed as it should imo (i come back to that later). Other than that the game runs fine, the music doesnt sound like its stuttering and the few fights i had went smooth. (Keep in mind i run the device in stock performance mode, never in max performance.) for the lags / freezes or stutters, according to discord you can disable the download data feature in the options, i havent tried or played much further yet.

Step by step:

  1. go to the official Discord => https://discord.com/invite/infinitefusion

  2. downloads > Android guide post > click the Android guide link

  3. this will send you to a page i will not link here because it might change or you dont want to trust me because of what i wrote above. (i know i wouldnt)

  4. follow the guide WORD BY WORD. there are specific versions of joiplay and rpg maker plugin you have to install, its all in the guide.

  5. after you are done with the guide and ready to play, keep READING THE GUIDE because there are button mapping recommendations that you do not want to skip. joiplay is hella confusing and i didnt read till the end. Thats why i recommend you do!

  6. then, after you are actually done with the guide and also did the ingame steps and saved a game, leave the game.

  7. open the options (3 button menu) > settings > enable "solid fonts" and further down set the "window size" to 1920 x 1080 > "Font Scale" to 1.00 (or higher, have not tested) press the save button!

this should now make most of the text readable. not perfect, but better.

you can then add other pokemon fangames made in RPG maker like unbreakable ties or other games. you will have to repeat the process of remapping the controls tho, because they are set in the game's instance, not in joiplay itself.
