Ubisoft reported a record operating loss of $1.4 billion for the fiscal year, driven by the poor long-tail sales of Assassin's Creed Shadows and the massive controversy surrounding its inclusion of the historical figure Yasuke.
Financial and Corporate Impact
The sustained, intense backlash regarding historical inaccuracies and the "woke" branding of Yasuke directly caused Ubisoft to delay Shadows and incur an additional $20 million in development costs to rework and reduce Yasuke's prominent role in the game.
To the surprise of no one, as Shadows' flop has already been confirmed several times, its awful post launch performance just caused Ubisoft to have one of it's worst years so far.
Yasuke isn't, wasn't and never will be a samurai.
So I bought Ubisoft games a while ago and I'm trying to play them now and they say that they are linked to a different account I do not have access to that account I have sent Ubisoft support multiple cases showing them that I have proof that I own the games I have played the games and everything else but nope they say that this is the account that they were activated on and there's nothing we can do. I have been trying for weeks and it is a complete and energy joke so I am out of $300 I have games in my steam library that are just sitting there now can't plan can't do nothing.
Good News #1: Rejoice! UbiSoft's gaming servers are now fully operational after more 30 hours of unexplained outage.
Good News #2: If you completed the weekly Animus missions during the outage period, you will find that you received ALL points from completed Animus missions.

In Assassins Creed Shadows, the disc still needed an online connection during setup before I could play offline later
That made me think about upcoming games like Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynced.
If discs are just:
installing the game, requiring online once and not fully usable offline by themselves
then whats the actual point of them now?
Do you still prefer physical copies in this case or is digital just better?
