Fanfic: Prince of Ashes (dark AU, slow burn)

Prince of Ashes

Harry Potter died in the graveyard at Little Hangleton.

Years later, magical Europe is at war, and a figure known only as the Prince has become the most feared weapon of Voldemort’s regime.

As the resistance fights to survive, Hermione Granger begins to investigate the man behind the legend — unaware that ghosts of the past still walk among the living.

Hello! You might know me for my moodboards, but I have something different this time. =p

This is my first fanfic in this fandom. I was going to wait until it was finished to post it here, because I know most of you prefer to read something complete, but it would take too long lol.

I used to write The X-Files fics, but it's been aaaages. So I'm kind of nervous about posting something again.

In this AU, Harry is kidnapped by Voldemort after the Triwizard Tournament and becomes his Prince. It's dark, but more psychological than gory. Harry/Hermione obviously, and a slow burn.

My main inspiration was an amazing Star Wars fanfic trilogy called Sons of the Sun, by blank101. I really wanted to write a Dark Harry, but a conflicted one. Voldemort spent years working on him, so yes, he was made into this. But it isn't only that. Harry made choices along the way, and he knows he did.

Almost all of the chapters are written by now, so you can expect regular updates. (I'll try to post every Saturday, let's see.)

Hope you enjoy this story!

Fic Rec Moodboard: Through A Demonic Path

Through A Demonic Path by Aeyliana

>Harry, transformed into a being that has no classification, escapes his slavers and Voldemort. His flight takes him to a rain-soaked alleyway where a resistance-spy finds him. As the Ministry catch up with him, the spy helps him escape. He trusts his mysterious saviour and she brings him to her home to patch him up. Fate was on his side for once as his helper is a friend of a friend, an ally. Yet his ally is also a spy deep in the ranks of his foes. He sabotaged her cover and now she's the only link back to the life that had been torn from him. Her name: Hermione Granger.

Wow, what an amazing story. I really enjoyed every bit of it, even though it's not finished. Hermione really feels like a Beauxbatons student who spent almost her entire life in France. Even so, she's still the Hermione we all know and love: focused, fierce and intelligent. Harry, poor Harry, is deeply damaged. You can't help but mourn the boy he once was while also fearing the dangerous demonic creature he has become.

The concept is fantastic. I really liked how the author explores the realm of demonic magic and its creatures. Hym is a very interesting character. The Circle feels even more menacing than Voldemort. Great story! It's part of a series, there's also a prequel that shows how Harry was transformed into that creature. I'm definitely going to read that one!

Fic Rec Moodboard: Shadow Walks

Shadow Walks by lorien829

>In the five years since the Final Battle, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley have struggled to cope with the mysterious disappearance and apparent death of Hermione Granger. There are deeper and darker purposes at work than Harry yet realizes.

Old but gold. This gem was written 20 years ago, and it's still so good. The mystery surrounding Hermione's disappearance is well crafted and well plotted, and the payoff is even better. It's a classic story that every Harmony fan should read, in my opinion.

Fic Rec Moodboard: Against the World, You and I

Against the World, You and I by Continuedinterests

>Harry puts down the plate in his hands and leans over, so that he is looking right over Hermione’s shoulder. The leaf in her hands turns purple, then a vibrant neon blue. Harry’s whole body seems to tighten, he forgets to breathe. He palms the glass by her shoulder, like he can melt through it to her, to grab her and keep her there. In a second the leaf is back to its original yellow, and then she’s gone, taking quick strides, pulling a car door open.

>The leaf is blown away as a breeze comes through.

>Harry’s still standing there, his hand pressed to the glass.

>It seems like it's time to pay the Granger’s a visit.

>
An AU were Voldemort comes back when Harry is six or so and he and Hermione never go to Hogwarts. Voldemort hasn't forgotten him.

This is my favorite story by Continuedinterests. It's just so good! The premise of Harry and Hermione not knowing about magic and having to learn it on their own is really well executed. I also love how Harry is always completely mesmerized by Hermione's hair in almost all fics by this author lol.

Which Harmony fanfic would you choose to become a film or a series?

Let's have some fun.

If, for any reason, you could choose one Harmony fanfic to be adapted into a film or TV series (either as a sequel to the original story or as a new adaptation of the canon timeline), which one would it be and why? Also, who would you cast as Harry and Hermione?

For me, I think I would choose A Step to the Right. I love Harry and Hermione's relationship in that story. As a bonus, we'd get to see James and Lily interacting with them, which would be really interesting. And, of course, there's all the lore about family magic and the history of the Black and Potter families!

As for the cast, that's tricky. I think I'd choose Harriet Herbig-Matten as Hermione. But Harry is really difficult for me to picture. Maybe Jonah Hauer-King.

Fic Rec Moodboard: The Broom Cupboard of Requirement

The Broom Cupboard of Requirement by WritingontheGo

>When a mysterious door appears just as Harry is looking for a hiding place, he doesn’t think twice about grabbing Hermione and taking refuge inside. But after finding themselves not only magically transported back to the broom cupboard each morning, but also reliving the same day on an infinite loop, Harry and Hermione must work together to decipher the room’s intent.

>Or, the story of how two young people begin to figure out life and love together…while stuck in a time loop.

This story is great! A really creative and well-written time-loop fic. I loved how the author managed to show more locations beyond Hogwarts while still keeping everything natural and fitting within the context of the story.

Fic Rec Moodboard: Seasons Series

Seasons by Elastic_Heart31

>A seasonal quartet taking place over the events of Deathly Hallows.

>In the darkness, he felt her bare arm brush up against his and it shot through him like a spark. A spark that could burn down everything.

This is my canon now. It’s a beautifully written series about Harmony falling in love during DH. It has everything I could want, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Fic Rec Moodboard: Bellow the Fold, We Are

Below the Fold, We Are by Syzygy_Spirit

>Hermione and Harry have been seeing each other for a few months now — in secret. Because their investigation into the Minister of Magic demands it. But what began as a rush, a minor breaking of the rules to let themselves fall into each other, suddenly turns into a dangerous balancing act.

>Or: A reunion weekend doesn't go as planned, and Harry has a few things to say about that.

What a great surprise. I really enjoyed this story. I love Harmony’s secret relationship and the way it’s them against the world here. It’s also great that the author never underestimates the reader’s intelligence, leaving clues for us to piece things together instead of explicitly explaining everything, really refreshing, to be honest! Definitely worth a read!!

A Step to the Right by CatsAreCool (Rachel500)

>In an alternate universe, Harry and Hermione fight another magical war but at least they have each other. Five part series with the first two parts complete.

What an intriguing concept and excellent storytelling. I really enjoyed the politics of the houses and the family magic. Harry and Hermione travelling to another reality is my jam when it's well executed, and here it is! I can't wait for the other parts of the series to be released.

Afternoon Stillness by Pimunido

>"You alright?" Harry murmured, leaning down slightly so only she could hear.

>"Fine," Hermione whispered back.

>"You're blushing."

>"I'm aware."

>His smile widened. "You look beautiful when you blush."

>"Harry, please."

I'm a sucker for established relationship/married Harmony. This one-shot has everything I love: Harry being totally devoted to his wife, office shenanigans, and lots of cuteness and fluff. Go check it out and give this amazing author some love!
