Steely Dan Samples in Hip-Hop

So I know the most famous one is when Kanye sampled Kid Charlemagne for "Champion". I also recently learned about De La Soul sampling Peg for "Eye Know". Two amazing tracks, in my opinion.

But are there any other Steely Dan samples in hip hop songs? I love both the Dan and hip-hop so I'm super curious.

Thank you, firefighters

We were on the precipice of an evac last night but we didn't have to, and I have to think that's due to the fire crews working so hard overnight. This Bug Fire is a bad one, and it could still turn out to be even worse cuz its gonna be hot again today. Love you, TMFR and all other crews involved.

A "thank you" on social media doesn't seem like enough though. Can I donate to firefighting efforts somehow? I'd love to buy them all some Gatorade or something lol

All Spanish-Speaking United XI

Hey guys! I'm the user who did the All-United England XI post about two weeks ago. That was a mostly fun thread, so I've decided to do it again with a twist.

This time, I am looking to build a United XI comprised solely of Spanish speakers. Anyone who grew up as a native speaker of the Spanish language, in any part of the world. I know that in some parts of Brazil and Portugal it is common to speak both Portuguese and Spanish, so I am intentionally excluding those countries since it wouldn't be as fun of a challenge. Plus, someone already constructed a Brazil XI of United players in the other thread. All that's required here is that the player wore our shirt at least once. Here is who I would have in my all Spanish-speaking United XI! 3-4-3 formation.

GK - David De Gea

LCB - Gabriel Heinze

CB - Gerard Pique

RCB - Lisandro Martinez

RW - Luis Antonio Valencia

CM - Ander Herrera

CM - Juan Mata

LW - Angel Di Maria (most talented player for this position, even if his United stint was less than memorable)

LF - Carlos Tevez

ST - Chicharito

RF - Edinson Cavani

honorable mentions - Victor Valdes, Guillermo Varela, Alexis Sanchez, Juan Sebastian Veron, Manuel Ugarte, Marcos Rojo, Sergio Reguilon, Diego Forlan, Radamel Falcao

I think goalkeeper and defense are pretty much set in stone here. Valdes played for us past his prime, and De Gea is the best pure shot stopper we've ever had. The back 3/back 4 can be shuffled depending on need, but I think it needs to be some combination of the players I listed.

Midfield and attack is where it gets complicated. I am struggling to think of a realistic formation that would allow us to get all the attacking talent we have here on the pitch at the same time. I think having Mata and Herrera in the center of the pitch is good, but Veron would be good if you need a DM. Really, it's the wingers and forwards that are giving me a problem. The 3-4-3 is the most applicable formation I can think of to get this to work. We are spoiled with talent in attack here, but it's a tough call on how to get them all involved. I ultimately ended up picking the 3 guys who were most successful for us, even if they aren't quite in their natural positions.

What do we think? Is there anyone obvious I have missed? Is there a better (realistic) formation that would get all this attacking talent on the pitch at once?

All-United England XI

I'm bored and waiting for the World Cup to start, so I thought I'd try to figure out the best England XI (all time) using only United players. Any Englishman who has worn the shirt for us at any point, even in just one match, is eligible. Every player would be in their prime, of course. Here is who I have so far:

GK - Alex Stepney

LB - Luke Shaw (sub - Phil Neville)

CB - Rio Ferdinand

CB - Harry Maguire

RB - Gary Neville (sub - Wes Brown)

LW - Marcus Rashford(?)

CM - Bobby Charlton (subs - Nobby Stiles, Kobbie Mainoo)

CM - Paul Scholes (subs - Bryan Robson, Michael Carrick, Paul Ince)

RW - David Beckham

ST - Wayne Rooney

ST - Michael Owen (sub - Andy Cole)

Standard 4-4-2 formation, but I think you could tweak the selection based on a different formation. This squad is exceptionally strong in midfield, good up front, and deep at full back. You could pick almost any midfield pair from the 7 players I listed and it would be top class.

Some pretty glaring weaknesses though at goalkeeper and left wing. Stepney was great for us, but only got 1 England cap his whole career for some reason (per Wiki). All of our best keepers (Gregg, Schmeichel, VDS, De Gea) are non-English, so depth is a problem at GK. Left wing is another problem. Rashford can be good on the left wing, but I know he likes to play closer to the front. A bigger issue here is that historically, we have not had a ton of English left-wingers. Our best LW (Giggs) was eligible to play for England, but famously chose Wales. Most of England's best LW players (Joe Cole, John Barnes, Chris Waddle) never played for United. I thought about putting Ashley Young there, but he was more of a left back during his time at United. There is a depth problem on the right wing, but we at least have Becks as a nailed-on starter there.

What do we think? Would you use a different formation? Is there anyone you would chose over the players I picked? Are there any other countries we could do this for? Portugal, France, Scotland, Northern Ireland, maybe?
