Sudden 8 day LP after consistent 10+ days

I am ready to try for a second baby. My husband wants another but is not quite on the same page yet.

This past cycle, we accidentally got two well timed tries in before my (unexpectedly early) ovulation. I got pretty excited and eagerly followed my chart and signs.

On 8 DPO, I started getting AF like cramping. My heart sunk- I had a feeling I was out, but I know you’re not out until AF arrives. Next day, I start spotting in the evening. My heart sinks again. By bedtime, I’m full on bleeding.

I would have been upset either way, but I’m mostly devastated because this means my LP was 8, almost 9 days last cycle.

I got my period back about a year ago now, at 9 months pp. since then, I’ve been trying to keep my charts accurate. Initially my LP was short, at 8ish days. After my son weaned, it extended to 10 days. For a few months, it was closer to 10.5 days. Then two cycles ago I got an 11 day LP and this was pretty exciting because that’s how long they were pre-pregnancy.

Then this. There’s nothing major going on in my life that could cause this. I’m just in shock and confused. I’m going to mention to my doctor on Thursday but wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Is this just normal variation? I never got LP’s shorter than 10 days pre-pregnancy.

And as a side note, has anyone else struggled with shorter LP’s postpartum and did you do anything to lengthen them?

My strangest chart in a while

I consistently ovulate CD15-16, so this came as a shock. We were not actively trying this month, but now I’m getting myself too worked up that it may happen anyway.

I’m pretty confident I ovulated CD12 because I had my high OPK on the evening of CD11, and when I tested the next morning it had already started dropping. I also had ovulation cramping on CD12. I think I likely ovulated the evening of CD12.

It’s looking promising so far!!!!
