Update! You all told me not to buy the blue dress, and I actually love it!
A few weeks back, I posted on here that I had purchased the burgundy dress on the left for my brother-in-law’s black tie optional wedding, and I just didn’t love the way that it looked or that I felt in it. A little context about the wedding, it is in late September in the Colorado mountains and the ceremony starts at 4 o’clock. The invitation says “formal/black tie optional”, but also mentions cocktail dresses. My husband is also the best man and will be in a three-piece black suit.
I said I was going to buy the dress on the right (originally an olive green when I posted it, but they did not have that color in my size) and so many of you told me that the burgundy dress was better, and a few even saying the velvet one would “show every curve and bump” and “wouldn’t look good on a real woman”. My confidence definitely took a hit after those comments lol.
There were also a lot of genuinely helpful comments, though, saying that I should just get the burgundy dress altered as it was a tad bit too tight, but I decided that I didn’t want to invest more in a dress that I just didn’t love.
Well, I’m happy to report that I have received the velvet dress absolutely love it! Once I put it on, I realized that the burgundy dress felt too “prom” when I had it on and this one feels much more sophisticated and me.
Now, I would love some advice on accessorizing! I’m thinking black shoes? No necklace? How should I do my hair? The neck line makes this a little more complicated I think?
Edit: spelling and grammar
