July 5th distrooo

July 5th distro! We have a lot of updates today.

First of all, huge thank you to @brewers.haven.1 for sponsoring a clothing drive for us! We had a huge turn out of clothing from our Bench community!!!

Second of all, yesterday Sunday Distro stepped up to sponsor a special July 4th Saturday Distroooo. We heard some other food programs in town closed due to the holiday, and our team stepped up distributing over 120 food items from hot dogs to PBJs, ham sammies, and even brownies and pancakes!

On that note, we did another 100 meals today. One community member yesterday told a volunteer "thanks for looking out for us even though its a burden" and of course we reassured them that this is our duty to each other. No human being is a burden.

Today we had a gentleman cry when a volunteer gave him a bagel. He said its so difficult to maintain sobriety hanging out on the street, and he is so grateful someone reached out with some food and to chat.

Finally, two our of volunteers today are folks no one recognized. We asked how they heard about us, and they shared that they heard about us because they used to eat with us and now they want to help serve.

This is community coming together. To get involved, visit linktr.ee/sundaydistroboise to cook or donate. We continue to need help canning fresh produce as well!!

Requested items-

-help changing a head gasket

-water guns for kids

-XXL clothes

-cigarettes

Sunday distrooo!

Happy Sundayyy y'all! We seem to be seeing an increased uptick in need since the warmer weather started. Our volunteers continue to meet this need with creativity and with help from our friends Rolling tomato and City of Good

Most recently we have had community members step up and pickle carrots, jam peaches, can tomatoes, and make popsicle out of strawberries. The creativity that has come from the produce we receive is truly astounding and is so telling of what humans can do when they come together out of love for one another!

Big asks from the community this week:

-Headphones

-cigarettes

-4x mens shorts (all large mens clothes really)

We also desperately still need support canning and processing produce ongoing.

Sunday Distro FAQ

Hey all! We have gotten a lot of questions from folks about who we are and what we do. Here's a quick FAQ for anyone curious!

Q- Where are you located? When does this happen? Downtown Boise at Rhodes Skate Park every Sunday at 330pm.

Q- Who are you?

Sunday Distro is a grassroots mutual aid project dedicated to making sure our neighbors have access to food, hygiene supplies, harm reduction resources, and community care. We believe everyone deserves dignity, regardless of income, housing, employment, identity, or circumstance. We started in response to the food stamp shut down in November of 2025. We are a group of people who love our neighbors and we love each other. We model ourselves after other mutual aid groups in the community.

Q- What is mutual aid?

Mutual aid is the idea that human beings can organize without coercion. In other words- its communities taking care of each other directly without permission. This is not charity and its not about "deserving" help. We recognize that everyone has needs and everyone has something to contribute. We recognize that we will all be recipients and givers of help throughout our lives.

Our guiding principle is simple:

Give what you can. Take what you need. No bigotry. No questions asked.

Q- What are your politics?

We are a community led mutual aid effort grounded in solidarity, autonomy, and collective care. We believe that people closest to their own needs are the experts on their own lives. We do not believe we are "giving" things away, we are redistributing from those who have more to those who need more.

No masters. No leaders. No flakes.

We aren't interested in gatekeeping resources or making people prove they deserve help. We are interested in showing up consistently for our community and each other.

Q- Who can receive resources?

Anyone.

There are no income requirements, housing requirements, or application process. If you need something, please ask. If we have it, we'll do our best to get it to you.

Q- Who can volunteer?

Anyone who believes in treating people with dignity and respect.

You don't need special skills or previous experience. We'll happily find a place for you to plug in.

Q- How can I help?

-cook meals

One of our biggest ongoing needs!

We're looking for volunteers willing to prepare 8–12 meals per week for distribution. Folks typically cook at home and bring prefilled takeout containers to the site from their homes.

Interested?

Please use the signup link in our Linktree to claim a meal slot.

-help process produce

We've started preserving donated produce to reduce food waste and extend the life of fresh donations. We need:

- Volunteers to wash, chop, process, and preserve produce

- Extra canning jars and supplies

- Folks with canning knowledge willing to teach others

Q- Can I donate money?

Absolutely! Financial donations allow us to purchase the things our community specifically requests and fill gaps in donations. Check out our gofundme in our Linktree

Q- Do I have to volunteer every week?

Not at all.

Mutual aid isn't about burnout. Whether you help once a year or every Sunday, we appreciate you.

Q- I can't cook. Can I still help?

Absolutely!

We need people to:

-Sort donations

- Transport supplies

- Process produce

- Set up and clean up

- Share our posts

- Connect us with community resources

- Pick up donations

- Bring extra tables, coolers, or equipment when needed

Q- Can I bring my kids or pets?

Generally, yes! We love building community across generations.

Q- Can I ask for help if I've volunteered before?

Please do.

Mutual aid isn't transactional. Volunteering doesn't earn you help, and receiving help doesn't obligate you to volunteer.

Q- Why do you do this?

Because its the right thing to do.

Because the state wont.

Because we dont need permission to do the right thing.

Because we've all needed help at some point.

Because loneliness and isolation are as real as hunger.

Because food should not go to waste while people go hungry.

Because communities become stronger when people know their neighbors.

Because we believe care should be the standard.

Q: how do I get involved?

Another beautiful day in community

Another Sunday, another beautiful day in community!

Today we giggled and hugged and fed each other and planned for the future. We are so lucky and grateful to be in community with y'all!

This week's community needs:

-An additional folding table- clothes are currently being stored in boxes on the ground

-Ketchup packets (the tiny ones are perfect!)

- A rolling toolbox for organizing supplies and keeping things mobile (on the amazon wishlist)

*Folks willing to help can and preserve produce*

If you have any of these items, skills, or leads, we'd love to hear from you.

And if you can't donate supplies but still want to support the work, our GoFundMe helps keep mutual aid moving. Linktr.ee/sundaydistroboise

We can't do this without each other!

Said one box unto the other,

'If I'm a box,

And you're a box,

Then you must be my brother.

Our sides are thin,

We're cavin' in,

And we must get no thinner.'

And so two boxes, hand in hand,

Went home to have their dinner."

Sunday distroooo

Holy abundance! We recently got started with Rolling Tomato and they are giving us SO so much food to feed folks with!! For example, this week we got 40 cartons of strawberries and pounds of lettuce!

This leads us to a new and happy problem- we need help processing food. Specifically, this week we need someone to process tons of frozen strawberries we have. Maybe some jam? We also have so much strawberry puree if anyone's feeling bake-y! Dm if you can help!

A great anecdote from tonight is that we have a Spanish speaking friend who has consistently asked for books in French or Spanish. We dont know how it ended up in our items, but alas, there was an Agatha Christi novel in French. The look of pure delight on this mans face makes what we do feel so relevant.

Wishlist for this week

-fishing rods

-pet food

-clothing racks??

Sunday distrooo

Words are beautiful. Actions are supreme.

-Che guevara

Happy Sunday! We were in Downtown Boise again taking care of one another today.

A couple of big wins continue to stack up! We are giving out lube and condoms every week and folks are utilizing sexual health materials in a REAL way. We have also been partnering with Rolling Tomato and were able to make Beef and Radish soup, Ceaser salad with shrimps, pesto chickpea salad, and BLTs with rescued food from the community!

We have our May 17th community resource fair next week. We are really excited to help our unhoused community members prep for summer! We are planning to offer haircuts, an ice cream bar, a nurse on site, and a craft table among other things! Anyone is welcome and donations are being accepted on our gofundme!

Needs:

-do any veterinarians in the area want to join us next Sunday from 1-3pm at Corpus Commons? We want one on site to provide referrals and quick visual exams on our unhoused community's pets
