Advice on step father feeding my dog potentially dangerous foods
So I live in an apartment by myself with my super anxious dog and have been taking her everywhere with me 24/7 and leaving her in my car (with the AC running of course) and it's all I can do no matter how much I don't like doing it because it's not fair for my dog.
My mom (vision impaired) has offered to watch her during the day but her husband (later stages of dementia) cannot stop himself from feeding my dog with whatever he can get his hands on (raisins, chocolate, etc). The hardest part is that with my mom being blind, she cannot make sure her husband isn't feeding her. And my stepdad isn't aware of what he's doing since he's pretty far into the dementia stages...if he was of sound mind I know he wouldn't do it but unfortunately that's the situation.
It has been such a blessing to have her be able to watch her but with my stepdad I am terrified that he's going to feed her something that is really dangerous for her. We've considered two options, one being that I get a crate and we have the crate in my Mom's room and she should be able to keep my stepdad away from the crate and her room. The other option would be to find some sort of comfortable muzzle with a lock on it that would prevent my stepdad from feeding her although I haven't even started to see if such a muzzle exists.
Curious if anyone has any other ideas?
