Few days ago I posted my thoughts on the format of the weekly remote group I'd like to run, where musicians could show their work in progress, get feedback, share their knowledge, etc.
https://www.reddit.com/r/dawless/comments/1u46sig/i_was_thinking_about_startingjoining_a_regular/
It turned into a small community on Discord, and we're missing a few more people with the same availability to begin with weekly calls. There is no host or guru or pusher of online courses, just a group of people on a different stage of their musical journey willing to connect.
Most of us are located in NL (including me) and UK, but It doesn't matter if your timezone, exact setup, genre, whatever is different. Leave a comment or DM me, so I'll send you a discord invite.
Think about weekly calls with some random strangers from internet that are also making music. Think about listening to each other tracks/performances, giving feedback, discussing hardware, and so. I hate current music marketing where we have to keep posting dozens of tracks to be listened by no one. I think it should be a small group like 4-5 people max where you actually listen to each other's material, there is no host, and everyone can get and give enough attention to each other. I'd even propose a simple framework of topics for each session, so groups can use the guide or decide what to do themselves.
Think about: let everyone tell their story (introduction), let everyone show their track in progress, give an idea how to finish it or other feedback, show the trick you learned about hardware/composition/marketing recently.
Ideally groups should remain with the same people and long for about 6-8 weeks. I believe that it should be a new kind of connection, where you actually get to know few other persons, learn their story, and be helpful to them -- I probably just now defined my motivation for making it: I'd also like to be helpful to others and I couldn't figure out how exactly, but I think this may be a contribution of mine.
The problem is to find a matching time spot for everyone. And what if there are more than 4 or 5 people would like to join? Build an app? But I'd rather use some existing tool or invite people directly via reddit. GPT didn't find an existing service that would match 100%, but it doesn't mean I immediately jump into making one more SaaS, it's just about that I'd like to achieve my goal (which is not making SaaS, but learn music and make friends) with the most simple solution. So if you're already part of such group and miss the 5th member, let me know.
UPD: I've created a discord server for this purpose, will see how it goes. If you'd like to join, DM me or leave a comment under the post, I'll reach you.
My setup is now completely on batteries / internal accu (Roland TR-6S, Dirtywave M8 on anbernic console, K.O. Sidekick thing from teenage engineering).
