Final straw! Amazon wants to charge me extra money to NOT deliver my order. I’m finally done.

First I want to say thank you for this sub. I’ve been reading it for a while and I’ve taken a hard look at my own consumption. I cancelled Prime months ago after being a regular user for over a decade. Even just the added friction of losing 2 day delivery has cut down my consumption and therefore waste. It just shows how little we actually “need”.

We still have been using it for items that are hard to find elsewhere but the act of waiting for $35 of product for free shipping is still a good mental hoop to jump through. On what is now going to be my final Amazon order they fulfilled part of it in 5 business days. One item costing $11.39 got delayed. Then again. Then again. Now it’s over a month late. I got an email offering to let me cancel this portion of the order. But when I click cancel they warn that I’ll have to pay an $11.99 shipping fee for the previous portion of the order already filled (because it would push the order under the $35 free shipping threshold). So I can pay MORE money on top of what I already spent to give them an out to not have to deliver my product?

I’m done. This is the final straw. Deleting the app entirely once this mess is sorted out. Looking forward to further cutting my footprint and waste.

Incredibles amethyst/ruby/steel help

Im a newer player dipping my toes into deck building. I found a really thoughtful guide on how to upgrade the Incredibles part of the WU starter deck to be “Set Champs Ready”. Lots of fun but feels like it still comes up short. Two questions:

* Is playing amethyst pointless (competitively) if you don’t play hades, demona, and dumbo? This isn’t my main play deck and I’d rather not drop the $$$

* the new combo shift dash/violet card is Ruby/steel but I don’t see many Incredibles decks in this combo yet? Is it just too soon, or is this avoided for some reason.

TIA

Trying to introduce my wife to my hobby and asked her to rip a pack with me. Here’s what she pulled!

PS I’ve never pulled an enchanted yet 😆. I saw the sparkle on the edge as she was starting to read the commons and got excited. She said it was fun and from now on I should just hand her the packs to open to make them shiny

Transitioning from virtual games to IRL can be awkward. I printed this “Ink Drying” marker to remind myself to check for all “At the start of your turn” effects before drawing.

I played my first IRL game at Set Champs. I explained to my opponents that I’m brand new and this marker was to remind me which cards are still drying. At the start of my turn I have something physical to do (remove the marker) which forces me to pause and resolve all other “At the start of your turn” effects before drawing a card. People seemed to love it (and I brought extras to share) so I thought I’d post it here for my fellow newbies!

Me: Stop playing Lorcana and go do your hobby like woodworking. Also me:

I’m hooked

Do people use non-damage tokens?

As a busy parent my only Lorcana play is online after getting the kids down. That’s easy because the game keeps track of short term modifiers for you. I’ll be playing my first IRL game at set champs. Do people use chips like these or are we supposed to just remember what modifiers are currently in affect. If the latter, would you be annoyed with someone doing this?

LGS raised prices by 60-70% in one week!

Last week I posted about what an awesome experience my first trip to a LGS was. They were friendly, loaded me up with some free old promos, and said they were “glad to see another player” because “we don’t see many Lorcana buyers. People just show up for the mat at set champs and leave”. I bought a $50 trove and the experience made my day.

I went back today thinking man I need to give this place my business. I walked in and the Lorcana product was relabeled. Troves were $80 and card packs up almost 70%. Trove inventory was unchanged. I asked what happened and the new guy behind the counter said they want to prevent scalpers. I mentioned at that high of an increase they’re going to turn away players too. I suggested maybe a pack/box limit per customer. He shrugged and asked if I was going to buy it anyway. I left without a purchase.

On the plus side I pulled an Epic woody in what’s likely going to be my only trove!

Edit: someone pointed out that troves are selling for this much on the secondary market. So the kid behind the counter was just misinformed. The owner wasn’t trying to “lock out” scalpers, they just repriced to what they think they can get. I blame you Iconic Buzz… Either way I’m going to finish my deck with singles.

New player here: is this what set champ foils go for?!

I just got into Lorcana and it’s my first TCG. I love the art on this Woody foil and am grinding on duals.ink to try to win one at a set championship. It would be so cool to finish top 8 and earn it but I know as a new player that could be a stretch. If I can’t win it I still want to collect it. I had no idea it would cost this much to buy though. A few hours into this listing and it’s $270! Is that just because there aren’t many available to buy yet or is this what we should expect to see?

New collector advice needed:

Lorcana is my first TCG and I only discovered it a few weeks ago after Wilds Unknown launched. I’m enjoying playing/deckbuilding but also collecting. Right now my collection goals are all Epics and then foils of cards from my favorite movies. I was NOT planning to be a set collector (especially starting this late). But then I saw this photo posted a while back and it’s so visually satisfying!

If you’re a set collector:
*Do you like the journey or the finished product better?
*Did you pack rip your way through most of it? I could go on tcgplayer and add all to cart in one click but that seems unfulfilling. Yet I don’t want to drop thousands on duplicates from pack ripping either.
*Would buying bulk lots preserve the fun/journey/feeling of earning it (and topping off with missing singles only)?
*Where does set collecting rank for you across all the the other ways to enjoy this game and why (playing, deckbuilding, etc)?

My other option is to focus on gameplay instead since my collection goals are mostly met except some chase cards currently out of budget range.

Thanks!

Ps: not my photo. I found it on the Lorcana sub but can’t credit the author because they deleted their account.

Edit: I think I’m going to focus on deck building, playing, and buying single foils from my favorite movies for now. Thanks for the input!

Well that’s satisfying…6 Dragon Shield sleeve boxes fit perfectly inside a Lorcana Trove box for storing decks.

I bought some starter decks to learn the ink archetypes. They fit perfectly in the Trove box!

Talk about beginner’s luck! Local store gave me a ton of free stuff to welcome me to the hobby!!!

You’ve probably seen me share a couple posts as I’ve discovered and fallen in love with Lorcana (my first TCG) over the past few weeks. I googled a store that I thought would sell it and struck up a conversation with the guy working there. Just wanted to get a lay of the land because I want to play a game there soon. I wanted to support them and bought my first Trove. As I’m walking out the guy handed me this box and said there was a card in there for me. I thanked him and walked to my car to find ALL THIS STUFF in there?!?!? That’s unbelievably generous for a $50 purchase. I went back to thank him again.

Is this what stores are like in this hobby? Because that’s awesome. Even if I don’t find an enchanted card I still won my first trove opening lol

Always make an impression with your first binder page

I wanted to show all 18 epic cards per set on an open page spread in this binder which left the first page of 9 blank. Puzzle cards for the win! And it’s something to look at while I dream about an I2I enchanted!

Just discovered Lorcana a couple weeks ago. Finished Wilds Unknown Epics!

And yes these are singles. From what I hear nobody has that kind of luck with rips. Epics are cool because they feel special but are financially accessible… looking at you Buzz Iconic

Help finding source of my first deck

TIA - I just discovered Lorcana two weeks ago and it’s my first TCG. I’m hooked - this is going to be amazing to play and collect! I was looking through so much content and copied the deck in the photo off of someone’s video or post but now can’t find the original post for the life of me. Does anyone recognize the original author of this deck? I’d like to go back to reread/watch what they said.

There might be two cards with only 3 copies to get to 60 or maybe the Raging Storm wasn’t there. Idk I bought a lot of cards this day.

Also yes I learned what core constructed means after buying these cards so know I’ll probably be just playing this at home.

If anyone was worried about the hobby know that there are complete newcomers still joining - and not just to scalp iconics :)
