Part 1 with the folder and press photos is here.
For those who want a deeper dive, here are the press notes. (I omitted a couple pages of credits.) As far as production notes go, these are pretty extensive, basically a full editorial feature on the movie.
I was a magazine art director when Royal Tenenbaums came out in 2001, already a fan of the first two movies, and was overjoyed to have this land on my desk. And, being me, I’ve been holding onto it for 25 years.
The production notes in the booklet are extensive so, I’ll post those in a second post.
Since this came up in another post, here’s a group I put together some time ago showing Warhol with various film cameras. He did use others, famously various other Polaroids.
If anyone has pics of him holding or using others, I’d love to add to this!
Part 1 with info about where I got these and what they are is here.
These are more from the photo album.
These were acquired at a remarkable estate sale at the home of antiques dealers and horologists. Hundreds of clocks and watches. They also had a massive collection of 19th Century “Cabinet” photo cards and frames, a few thousand marbles, 19th-early 20th Century Christmas cards, and photo albums representing a 100-year span. There were also a number of photos from ’60s folk music concerts featuring Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, Judy Collins, and others.
These are from one of the albums. There were also many loose photos tucked in the back (to be posted later). They’re dated from 1953 and seem to run until late ’50s, maybe early ’60s.
If Night City is where Morro Bay, CA is IRL, this region to the east would be the Badlands. I just realized that I’d visited the area a few years ago, taking an alternate route from LA to SF to check out some roads I’d yet to explore. This is CA58, which winds eastward past the 101. It’s so barren there are warning signs about no services. In the summer, desert-like heat, sometimes 30° hotter than in Morro Bay/NC.
Crossing this stretch on a Friday, I didn’t see a single other vehicle.
