Old Johnathan Glassner TV pilot. Used Chulak before there was Stargate.

Old Johnathan Glassner TV pilot. Used Chulak before there was Stargate.

A TV series pilot that didn't go anywhere back in 1994, staring Batman himself (Kevin Conroy), written by Johnathan Glassner. Called *Island City*. A good premise, decently done for its time, but rough.

See it here.

At time stamp 1:06:09 an announcement comes over the PA for a Sergeant Chulak.

Funny little: "Hey, I know that!" in an old obscure TV series that didn't get off the ground.

My dad is looking for thoughts on his roof support design.

We're renovating the family home, built in 1909 and in the family since the late 20s. We added an addition onto the front of the house, 12' deep and 24' wide. Meshing the roof of the house and the addition wasn't feasible so we did a low slope roof (at least 3/12).

To support snow load on such a low roof, we did 16" on center 2x6s with 2x6 ceiling joists. The beam down the middle is supported on either end wall, in the middle, with the load being transferred down through piers directly underneath.

It went through one winter with a snow load, no issues.

He's wondering what tradesman think of this design. I'm willing to answer other questions people have.

I have a 2012 Dodge Avenger SXT+ V6, 108k miles. It's been idling bad, runs like a dog, check engine light is on and it flashes when the idle gets worse before coming back up to normal.

My mechanic says it MIGHT be fuel injectors, but there's nothing definitive. I was wondering if it's the fuel pump, but it fires up without issue.

I haven't had it on the road in a week, been driving my truck instead, I don't want it to blow up.

General advice/suggestions?

The day is nearly at hand to replace the 10 year old Bauer thickness planer I have. The debate internally has been raging for a while now.

A helical lunchbox style with 13" clearance for about $850US, or a larger benchtop unit with 15" clearance for $1350US.

I have a helical planer and love it.

I also wonder if I should buy once, cry once, and get something on a stand that's more expensive.

Made from white oak I milled myself, had to buy the black walnut. Rustic features for some enhanced look. Procrastination made it take 4 months, even if it took 2 weeks of actual time.
