German Opportunity Card visa - 90+ days with no update, now trying to withdraw
Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice from people who have dealt with the German Opportunity Card/National Visa process, especially through the German Consulate in Mumbai.
I applied for my Opportunity Card visa on 25 June 2026. It has now been more than 90 days, and I have received no clear update about my application.
I have tried contacting the German Consulate in Mumbai several times by email, but I haven't received a proper response. I also tried calling them. During my first call, I was unable to get any useful information and the call was disconnected. I called again, provided my application details again, and explained that I wanted to withdraw my visa application.
I also explained that I need:
My passport and original documents returned
Written confirmation of withdrawal
A deblocking letter/confirmation for my blocked account
Unfortunately, I found the interaction extremely discourteous. Despite having already emailed them about my situation, I was called a “liar” during the call and the call was disconnected again. I found this extremely upsetting and unprofessional.
At this point, I no longer want to continue with my visa application. I simply want to withdraw it properly, get my passport/original documents back, and obtain the necessary deblocking confirmation.
Has anyone experienced something similar with the German Consulate in Mumbai?
What is the best way to escalate this or get a response from the relevant German authorities/Federal Foreign Office? Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.
