Chancenkarte from Italy as a non-EU advice & experiences? if I don’t find a job and eventually need to go the Ausbildung route, which ausbildung fields would be closest to Ux Design?🙏

I’m a 32-year-old non-EU student in Italy at Politecnico di Milano. My degree is in Product Service System Design, taught fully in English, and my background is mostly related to UX / service design / product design.

I’ll graduate around July 2026 and I’m planning to apply for the German Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) from Italy through the German embassy/consulate.

From what I understand, I already have:
4 points for recognized degree
points for age
points for English proficiency

I’m also currently trying to get an A2 German certificate before applying.

Does anyone here have experience applying for Chancenkarte from Italy or as a non-EU graduate already living in Europe?
I’d especially appreciate advice about:
how strict they are with proving work experience
whether UX/service/product design backgrounds are accepted smoothly
timelines from German embassies in Italy
anything you wish you knew before applying

Also, if I don’t find a job and eventually need to go the Ausbildung route, which Ausbildung fields would be closest to my studies/background? 🙏

B2 English, A2 German, 2 years in Game Dev — how do I survive until I land a job?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently trying to figure out my next steps and honestly feeling a bit lost.

I have around 2 years of experience in game development (Unity/C# mainly), worked on different projects, VR/AR, gameplay systems, and some backend/frontend work too. My English level is around B2 and my German is still beginner level (A2).

Right now I’m struggling with the “between jobs” phase and trying to survive financially while continuing to improve my skills and apply for opportunities.

For people who were in a similar situation:

What helped you survive financially before getting your first stable tech job?

What kind of freelance/remote work should I focus on?

Is game dev still worth pursuing or should I pivot temporarily?

How important is German for landing junior/international jobs?

Any advice, roadmap, or even honest reality checks would really help.

H+/- University in Anabin for Opportunity Card – Need Guidance

Hi guys,

I’m planning to apply for the Germany Opportunity Card, but my university status in Anabin is showing as H+/-

I’m really confused about whether I should proceed directly or first apply for ZAB evaluation.

Has anyone here successfully received the Opportunity Card with an H+/- university status?

Anyone recently received a ZAB Statement of Compatibility? What was your timeline?

Hey everyone,

I applied for a ZAB Statement of Compatibility (not Blue Card recognition) and wanted to ask if anyone here has received theirs recently.

Could you share:

  • When you applied
  • When your documents were marked complete
  • How long the final decision took

Would really help me understand the current processing times. Thanks!

Chancenkarte document after biometric

Hey,

I submitted my biometric on 30th April, now they are asking for a blocked account confirmation with a health insurance updated date. "By reply email"

But I don't see any change or place to update on the CSP portal.

Question: this is the normal process?

i want advice

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in my senior year of Computer Science and I already have some full-stack freelancing experience. My long-term goal is moving to Germany because the situation in my country is difficult and I want a more stable future.

I plan to learn German seriously (hopefully B2/C1 before applying), but I’m confused about the best route considering finances.

A Master's degree seems safer because it gives more time and stability, but the total cost (blocked account + rent + living expenses) could reach around €15k+, which is very difficult for me.

The Opportunity Card seems cheaper, but 6 months feels risky, especially with the current IT market in Germany.

I've also started thinking about Ausbildung. Since I already study Computer Science, I'm wondering whether I should focus on:

  • Fachinformatiker für Anwendungsentwicklung (software development)
  • Fachinformatiker für Systemintegration
  • Mechatronics or something similar

For people who live in Germany or went through a similar situation:

  1. Which route would you choose in my position?
  2. Which Ausbildung path makes the most sense with a CS background?
  3. Is software development still the better choice, or should I consider another field?
  4. Is finding part-time work realistic while trying to settle in Germany?

I’d appreciate honest experiences.

Chancenkarte as a Doctor

Hello everyone, I graduated last July as a Doctor in Romania, I am originally from Lebanon, I have the B2 goethe certificate, and I got my original Diploma, and since I returned to Lebanon we had a war, and had some difficult time. One of my friends (engineer) that went to Germany with the Chancenkarte and recommended me to do it because it took less time than the other visas (specially with this situation and what is happening here). So I got my appointment but tonight I read drastically that the Chancenkarte isn't very compatible for doctors, there was no clear explanation why, but I read "It is not made for the Aprobation". So I looked on the internet and I couldn't find clear information, did anyone go to Germany as a Doctor with the Chancenkarte, anyone has any information regarding this situation.
Thanks a lot for your answers.

Senior Digital Marketer. Is the Opportunity Card worth it for this field?

Hello everyone,

I am planning my move to Germany via the Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) later this year and want to get some realistic feedback from those on the ground. I want to know if the demand for my background justifies the financial and personal risk of relocating.

My Profile:

Age: 25M

Education: BBA from an H+ recognized university in India (First Class honors).

Experience: 4 years of total experience in Digital Marketing, currently working as a Senior Digital Marketer for a global B2B solutions company.

Language: English C1 (Getting an MOI certificate from my university). I am also currently learning German and plan to finish my A2 level before moving.

My Questions for the Subreddit:

Is there a real demand for B2B Tech Marketers with A2 German?

Can I realistically land a mid-to-senior B2B corporate role relying heavily on English while I continue to improve my German on the job?

How is the job search timeline? The card gives me 1 year, but my goal is to land a full-time qualified job straight away rather than doing odd part-time jobs. For those in corporate/tech marketing, did you find a job within the first 3–4 months.

Would love to hear from anyone working in corporate marketing or tech sales enablement in Germany. Thanks!

Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte): "Decision Made" on portal but no collection prompt. Can I walk into New Delhi Embassy?

Hi everyone,

I’m in a bit of a time crunch and need some advice regarding the Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) process at the German Embassy in New Delhi.

My Timeline:

Appointment: April 16th (Passport submitted).

Document Requests: Received requests for my B.Tech degree and proof of "full-time/regular" study on April 27th. I fulfilled these immediately.

Status Update: On April 30th, the CSP portal updated to "Your application has been decided by the German mission".

The Dilemma:

It has been 13 days since the "Decision Made" status, but I haven't received a specific "Passport Ready for Collection" notification or email.

Questions:

Has anyone else seen their portal stay on "Decision Made" without a final collection prompt? Did you just go to the embassy?

Do they usually allow you inside the embassy gate with just the "Decision Made" screenshot if you haven't received the final collection email?

Any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated!

What if I can't get my original degree?

Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well. I am currently applying for a Chancencarte as a Syrian residing in Hungary.

For my Bachelor's degree from Damascus University, I currently have the physical, legally certified true copies here with me, along with the official translation and high-quality digital scans of the original diploma.

The single physical original of my degree is currently kept in Syria. While courier services do exist, international shipping out of Syria is currently highly unreliable due to the broader geopolitical situation. Additionally, Damascus University does not issue replacement diplomas under any circumstances.

That's why I am hoping to avoid shipping the original across borders.

Is there any solution, or should I try to get the original one?

Additionally, can I reserve an appointment after one month of form submission?

And Im also unable to download the videx application, so there was no option to download, and now when I click print it doesnt show the application form just the screen? Do we need to submit work experience letters from companies for Chancenkarte? Like for Australia PR we need the experience letters with responsibilities included in the letter (which is very hard to get), do we need the sane for Chancenkarte? Do we also need to take the IELTS to apply Chancenkarte? My degrees are in english
