For those who applied for Chancenarte, how long did it take to get your visa decision after submitting all required documents (days or weeks)? I applied from the German Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.

My wife and I submitted our Germany visa applications at VFS Bengaluru on 26 June. Since then, the CSP portal has continued to show “Decision Pending,” and it’s now been almost 4 weeks without any update or passport dispatch.

Has anyone recently received their visa through the German Consulate in Bengaluru? How long did it take from submission to receiving your passport? I’d really appreciate if you could share your recent timelines and experience.

I have 10+ years of Experience as Lead Developer in CRM. When i got to know about German Opportunity card, it did sounded very attractive. To receive one, there was no language requirements. I got the visa in a reasonable time window.

When i started applying for jobs, almost every job application was rejected. I applied to almost 150+ jobs in the first 2 months, and i didnt receive a single interview call. I then interacted with few german recruiters in Linkedin to understand why was i getting rejected, though I have good qualifications and experience. They told me that i dont meet the language requirements.

I have a A1 German and in my mind i was thinking that is enough to apply for jobs. But when the recruiters expected C1 level of german, my German dream looked very far away. As you are all aware, it takes good amount of time(6-8 months) to reach B2. I already have spent 2 months on my Opp visa just by applying for jobs. So, 8 months from now will be 10 months on Opp Visa. I probably will be left out with just 2 more months to find a job, with absolutely no gaurantee i will find a job.

The enitre math doesnt add up. For the last few days, i am feeling clueless about how to navigate this situation. I have a full time job and a family to manage. I also thought of the probability to leave my job and learn German full time and move to Germany in few months. But the market is not great, i am very worried, what if i will never find a job in germany and have to come back home. Also i have a well paying job in home country, which i have to sacrifice to persue the German dream.

I am also worried that if i dont use the Visa, Visa is going waste. I am unable to decide anything at this point of time.

I feel there is gap between the German policy makers and Companies. If I would have been aware of language requirements before i received the visa, i would have first done B2 and then applied for Opp Visa.

Does others feel the same? What will be your advice here?

Hi everyone. I am working remotely for my company from Germany on Chancenkarte visa. I recently got a job here(in Germany) and I have resigned for my current company. My Chancenkarte visa is valid until March 2027. My German employer gave me joining date as October 1st and said they'd extend the joining date incase the process takes long. What I'd like to know is that my Chancenkarte visa says 'M' for entries on the visa sticker. I understand that it stands for multiple entries. Just to be safe, I have been searching what are the rules for exit and entry within valid visa time. I want to go back to India to for two weeks to bring back some personal belongings of mine. I am not able find any official documentation for Chancenkarte online that has information about multiple entries or exit and entry rules. So if anyone has entered Germany, exited for a week or two or any time duration temporarily for reasons like mine, please share your experiences. If not kind provide guidance on what shall I do. Hi- I submitted my application and its at first level of verification, they asked me to upload docs , which I have uploaded.
After that no update, I have not uploaded blocked account n insurance details yet as its not been asked.

What to consider, shall I wait or mail them?

Based on your experiences, after the appointment at the German embassy, how long does it usually take for the visa to be issued, a couple of days, or the full 4–8 week window?

If almost every job requires native-level German, then what is the point of creating a visa specifically to attract foreign workers?

Reddit is full of smug, miserable people with zero empathy. Foreigners leave behind their families, careers, and entire lives just for a chance at the basic stability and quality of life that many Germans take for granted.

Then the response is always the same: “Haha, good luck finding a job with your skills and language level.”

That is not advice. It is just arrogance.

I am a Software Engineer with around 5 years of experience, I am Lebanese, and I am currently working on applying for the Chancenkarte VISA, I still have around 3-4 months time before I am done with the application and before the VISA is issued.

I have very very basic knowledge in German and I am currently working on my language skills in my spare time.

My question is: How difficult is it to find a Software related job in Germany without German language skills.

Are my chances really zero ?

Yet another IT professional who is chasing the German dream since 5 months. Seeing so many job postings for my role in Germany I thought I am going to get a job as soon as I land in Germany. I did get some initial interviews but seeing my broken German (B1) they outright rejected me. That was Mar - May 2026. After that I did not get even a single call atleast to evaluate my German or get my basic details. Yet everyday there are new job postings on LinkedIn, Stepsstone, Xing, Indeed and what not.

Enough with the context here's what I am doing currently, search jobs posted in last 24 hours on LinkedIn -> Paste job description in Chatgpt with a prompt to generate work experience section to match with the job description -> Apply on Company portal(Skip Easy Apply as its useless). I do this only for jobs where I see myself fit 90%. I do not randomly apply for all jobs I see. In parallel, I am attending B2 class at VHS to improve my German. The classes are going slow and I do not have much time left on my Chancenkarte visa. I also look at Google maps to find companies that match with my profile and apply on their website if there any openings. No calls there as well. Why is that everything dead silent now? What changed? Few months back I was getting calls, thinking that ok if I drop one interview, I thought with that experience I can do the next one better. But poor me.

So Redditors, am I missing something or overlooking the obvious? Please pour your suggestion. Appreciate all your inputs.

I am planning to apply for chancenkarte by September currently I have A1 certificate but my knowledge is A2 and only want to start the proccess after reaching B1 . so those who have applied if I start by September by when I can expect to complete the process. also I am not planning to take the German exam is A1 enough my Degree is completely recognised.

My work has involved business analysis, market research, stakeholder management, data analysis and strategy in a technology consulting/product environment.

I've been actively applying to jobs in India for more than an year, but it's been difficult to even get interviews. At the same time, I've also been exploring opportunities abroad.

I'm considering the Germany Opportunity Card. My thinking is that being physically present in Germany could improve my chances of networking, interviewing, and finding a job.

I'd really appreciate honest advice from people who've been through this, especially fellow Indians:

• Is the Germany Opportunity Card a sensible option in my situation?
• I'm happy to learn German, but would it realistically improve my chances of finding a job as a non-EU candidate with 2 years of experience, or would getting interviews still be an uphill battle?
• Would being in Germany also make it easier to explore opportunities in the Netherlands?
• Would you consider this a practical strategy, or am I overlooking something important?
• If you were in my position today, what would you do?

I'm not looking for reassurance, I genuinely want realistic advice, even if it's "don't do it yet."

I applied yesterday through the Diplo portal for Germany’s Opportunity Card. I completed all the required fields and uploaded every document that was requested.
Today, I received a “Correction Required” message asking me to upload additional supporting documents. Specifically, they wrote:
“Please also upload your proof of foreign language proficiency here.”
I’m confused because I applied based on having a recognized university degree. My understanding was that if you qualify through a recognized degree, you don’t need to provide proof of German or English language proficiency. I thought language certificates were only required if you’re applying through the points-based route without a recognized degree.
Language proficiency wasn’t listed as a required document during my application, so I didn’t upload anything. I also don’t have a language certificate.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a standard request sent to everyone, or did something go wrong with my application? What should I do in this situation?

Just wanted to share my Fintiba refund timeline in case it helps anyone waiting for theirs. ( Blocked account for ChancenKarte visa, visa approved but I cancelled it later without traveling to Germany)

Documents uploaded:
1:Letter from the embassy for closing of blocked account and refund the amount (sperrfreigabe)
2: Visa Cancellation Letter

4 July: Applied for a refund through the Fintiba app.
6 July: Received the first email confirming my refund request had been received and was under review.
7 July: My monthly account maintenance fee was deducted from my blocked account.
10 July: Received the email for the verification with the passport for the refund process (link was provided in the email). Later the same day, I was informed that the refund had been transferred to TransferMate to be returned to the same credit card I had used to fund my blocked account.
15 July: The refund appeared in my credit card transaction history as a pending/posted transaction.
17 July: The refund was finally credited to my credit card and became available.

Overall, the refund process took about 13 days from the date I submitted the request.

I also want to mention that Noor Shama from Fintiba was very helpful throughout the process. She kept me updated via email at every stage, which made the waiting process much easier.

Hopefully this timeline gives others an idea of what to expect. If anyone has questions about the process, feel free to ask.

Hi, quick question to anyone who’s had to pick up their passport from the NYC consulate - did it require another appointment to pick up? The cautious side of me doesn’t want to do the fedex option.
