Computer refuses to boot. Disk partition will not see it when running from BIOS but will see the drive when using a windows installation drive.

I need help figuring out how to copy a windows system partition onto a drive that seems to be missing it.

Dell Optiplex 7050

Windows version 10.0.19041.1

MXR 16gb 2rx8 X 2 Ram (ran memtest86 pulled a stick that was slightly slower than the other but not anything I'd consider problematic)

King Spec hdd219 1tb (I could have sworn it was a ssd was surprised to see a hdd today)

No BitLocker, Local User, Touched the internet once only to activate nav software.

Only runs TimeZero with all sorts of data passed in on usb and lan. Been almost 2 years without issue.

Old computer (different specs) crashed to bluescreen constantly before refusing to boot, BitLocker prevented me from doing anything last time, so I sent the old drive to a recovery specialist. They said the windows folder deleted itself, but all data was recovered. Now this Dell (Refurbished from Amazon, only imported TZ exports) is doing the same thing, it started crashing yesterday to bluescreen, would boot to desktop after some coaxing, then immediately crash. I was unable to back it up and I didn't properly set up the backup to another drive(my fault, should've checked)

It is currently stuck in a boot loop. When I go to use command prompt and disk partition it will not see the hdd, zero drives detected. I loaded up a windows install drive assuming there would be some kind of recovery utility. It will see the other drive and poking around with command prompt I can see that all my data is there, but when checking the system partition/volume(?) that is labeled hidden, it is empty, no boot folder or anything. It is supposed to have 100-200 mb of stuff, correct?

I called the repair company that fixed it last time, but it is outside their hours. The old man is trying to leave tonight, and I can assume the coast guard and the rest the crew would appreciate us not using paper charts in this day and age.

I have a sata to usb and I can see the drive on my laptop. I was wondering if there was any way to repack windows onto it without disturbing the data. The guides I found either don't seem to match what I am trying to do or wants me to buy an expensive tool. Eventually when we get to a port where I can source a new drive (computer only has sata connections or I would use a spare nmve ) I'll change them out. Just hoping someone can point me in the right direction to repacking the windows system folder because I am getting nowhere in my searches.

I assume TimeZero is the culprit as it is a common factor between the two rigs, that is a can of worms for later. The old rig was a SSD, while I know there could be some worry that the hdd is damaged due to being on a boat, there is a 2010 HP Pavilion AIO with a hdd in a worse spot that chugging along just fine. The HP use to be plumb into the gps, when we updated to the digital radar/sonar and fancy gps, it was all passed through the Dell before going to the HP. The HP's nav software is to dumb to recognize anything coming in on Lan or I would use that.

So why can't we have a ferry to Prince Rupert

I don't know for the rest of the state, but I really miss being able to take a ferry to Prince Rupert. As a kid in SE we use to hop on the ferry and get off in Canada driving the rest the way. After high school, it was a favorite road trip of my buddies and I after we finished fishing and headed off college. Since 2019, its regular sailings have been sorely missed. What I understand to be the big claims are.

  1. They won't let us have guns at their terminal and were unable/unwilling to provide armed officers.

  2. The bulkhead is in poor condition. We can not agree on who has to source the steel in order to repair or rebuild the dock. Funds didn't seem to be an issue, just whose steel went towards the project.

  3. Apparently, we did not comply with international law for safety. We can fix that or only allow Kennicott to make that stop.

Stewart/Hyder is a pipe dream that makes me mad every time I think about it. It just seems like something they say they are looking into, so the missing Prince Rupert leg is downplayed by those who don't live in the area or understand the issue. To address the quick points.

  1. How is a town of 50 supposed to room and border the workforce to build a dock. They will be staying in Stewart, or a float house will have to be included in the base bid price.

  2. It will take too long. It about ~70 miles to Hyder from AMHS current line or by my estimate half a day to get to Hyder and return to the main line. It was a small ask to divert to Prince Rupert to let a few cars off, unlike Hyder.

  3. Economic. While I do not believe a road should be required to make a profit, economically, it does not make sense. The appeal of Prince Rupert was the cheaper fare. To divert ~70 miles to almost double the drive time to Bellingham does not pen out well. Do we want a small ferry from Ketchican to Hyder only? No. Do we want to send a mainline ferry that far out of the way? No. If we build a small dock, it will be abandoned just like Coffman Cove or Petersburg's small terminals due to the economics of low ridership.

I've just been thinking about it again recently and was wondering if anyone else had opinions.
