Helianthus showing off.

Muck Sunflower, Helianthus simulans. It's related to Swamp Sunflower but much more aggressive. I transplanted this spring and some are almost 10ft tall!

Embroidered skeletal leaf.

I used a method from Megan Zaniewski's second book to make it. I painted Lutradur "fabric" with watercolors and stitched the veins. I cut the leaf shape out and made the holes with a soldering iron.

Saltmarsh Mallow, Kosteletzkya pentacarpos. Louisiana, USA

Loving the soft pink flowers! Even though it naturally grows in wet areas, it is pretty adaptable to average garden conditions.

Sphinx moth nectaring on Common Evening Primrose.

I wish I could post two videos. I saw over a dozen nectaring! The flowers smell really nice too.

Orginal post

Photo update to a new garden bed I plant late last year. Everything has filled in great! I had some weed problems in the beginning (curse you Oxalis!)

Planting dense has really helped with weeds. All my planted plants are supressing the weeds now. I threw in some Indian Blanket amd Lemon Balm seeds for the quick color. The Stokes' Aster is gorgeous. I'm starting to see lots of little bees in the Coreopsis and Indian Blanket flowers. I even caught a photo of a carpenter bee on my Self-heal(pictured!)
