Pure curiosity: why low oil light takes 10 miles to come on after oil change?

Hello mechanics. I just did an oil change on my Mazda CX-30. The dip stick is extremely difficult to read with the thin 0W20 oil except when dead cold. So I just put in the amount of oil it looks like I drained out including what drained out of the filter. I also pre fill the new oil filter.

This process is not precise, and I have under filled it slightly (like a quarter of a quart) for the second time in a row.

Here’s my question: why does the low oil light not come on until I drive for 10 miles? I run the car for a minute to get it off the ramps after the oil change. I thought that would be enough time for the oil to fully circulate and trigger the low oil light off I was short. Why does it take so long to come on?

I was driving on level ground when it came on this time.

Thank you sitar players and students!

Indy Pass mountain for intermediate ski lesson?

Hey team, I've been skiing for a while and want to take a lesson this upcoming season to break out of some of my "forever intermediate" habits. I took a lesson a few years ago at Bolton Valley, but the instructor didn't provide much specific feedback. Do you know of any Indy Pass mountains that have good lessons for intermediate skiers who want to get to the next level?

Bigulate: blow up images to poster size then print, cut, and tape

Hello poster people, I made this web app because my wife needed to enlarge a calendar and couldn't find an easy way to do it.

Everything runs in the browser. Images do not get uploaded to a server. Select paper size and margins. Should be good for blowing up an image to poster size and printing it on regular paper. Dotted lines show where to cut.

No sign up. Totally free.

Let me know what you think!

I made an app to turn an aerial photo into a sketch that you can use for a planting plan

Totally free. I just made it for myself and then decided to share it. Works well with a screenshot from Google Maps

I'm on a new task-based (i.e., not hourly) project. The requirements keep changing, and our work keeps getting kicked back for new reasons. I don't think anyone's task has made it to "Signed Off" yet, so none of us are getting paid this period. I'm wondering if I should keep trying to get my tasks across the finish line, or if I should just punt here and write off the 48 hours of work I have put in already.

What has been your experience? Have you gotten paid for all your tasks, some of your tasks, or none of your tasks? Did they require significant rework? If you didn't get paid, is there some mechanism by which micro1 returns your work to you or deletes it?
