Thinking about applying to the UofK MSW Program, but I'm reserved about it.

I am a 41 year old man in Tennessee, and I've worked 17 years in mental health and residential programs and I am about to graduate with my BSW next spring. I am looking to enter the Advanced Standing Program and am Carrying a 3.96 in my BSW. My biggest reservation is that for my bachelor's I am going to University of Pheonix because my employer has and is paying for 95% of my tuition cost with FAFSA. I do recognize there is a stigma with UPOX but the financial benefits was too good to pass up. Does UoK accept students from programs like this?

I hope the MSW is better than my BSW

I am someone coming into the school part having worked around social workers in a clinical and generalist setting for most of my life and I gotta say... this BSW feels so worthless. I am not learning anything that would be helpful in a practical setting yet with less than 5 classes to go. I am getting a 3.9 and I am just hoping that the MSW program I am going to is better. People going into social work raw are getting such a bad pull. People really need to decide if their time wouldn't be better spent elsewhere.

Is this normal for a male social worker to experience?

I am still in school, but my experience from social worker instructors and other social workers has been a real negative one. I am a very masculine presenting male who has a strong work ethic and desire to become a therapist because I didn't have a therapist like me to help me when I needed it so I decided to do something about it. Every instructor has been rather dismissive or outright passive aggressive about of my desire to help and wanting to specialize in therapy for men, and most of my interactions with other social workers has been pretty much the same. I don't know what the issue is. Its starting to bother me to the point where I am second guessing myself. I have been working in the mental health field for the last 15 years and I am getting older (heck I'm recovering from injuries earned in working in a psychiatric hospital right now, surgery etc) but I'm carrying a very high GPA and willingness to learn. It's just completely unreal to me that I am getting met with such venom at times.

UOPX has been lying to us regarding FA Disbursement

Other schools have been advised to disburse the funds and ignore the issue. They are capable they are actively withholding our FA
