This thermometer inaccuracy is clearly a design flaw

Before you say it, YES I PLUGGED THE WALL HOLE, both behind the mount and on the terminal side of the mount...no air from the wall. Yes, I have all settings turned off-- no humidity correction, no power grid/time of day based stuff. And no, I'm not spending another $100 on a remote sensor! Ecobee support is now sending me a new unit after showing them pics of the hole plugged, etc...however with all the people reporting this issue, I'm not hopeful. That said, I am impressed with their chat support, and do notice when companies have good support.

One of the main jobs of a thermostat is to read the air temperature, and my Ecobee fails at this modest task. I left the Honeywell dumb thermo it replaced on the wall next to it, as well as another thermometer. They always agree. The Ecobee on the other hand varies depending on the time of day by as much as 4-5 degrees. Most of the time though, it's off by about 2-3 degrees, which is enough to notice and feel uncomfortable. In the heat of the day, like 4pm into the early evening, it always reads too high, so doesn't cool enough. During the coolest hours (night into morning), it reads to low and cools too much. This makes the internal correction adjustment useless, as I was constantly going either up or down from 0.

Since I've lived in this house, two other thermostats have existed in the same location (without the wall hole plugged lol), and were totally accurate.

So, if the new unit is accurate, we will know that there is a potential QC issue, if it's inaccurate, we could say there is a design issue.

On the fence about upgrading

Currently own a 2009 RWD GS350 with 166k miles. Rough shape cosmetically with some hail damage, sun damage on paint, and torn leather seats. Got it for $5k with 155k on it, I’ve probably put 1500 into it. However, it needs a carrier bearing, and as far as I know trans has never been serviced (feels fine though)

I’ve fallen in love with the way it drives, and am considering a locally available 2013 F Sport RWD with 133k miles for $16k. Looking for any pros and cons I may have not thought of on keeping and repairing the 2009 vs upgrading. Thanks!

Potential rules violation 9-10u rec LL

Today our team that I head coach lost the deciding game for the district championship. 6 innings were played and we were the away team, leading into the bottom of the 6th. I have filed written contest of the game outcome with the league president.

With 2 outs and a runner on first, a batted ball was fielded by our SS. He took the ball himself to second and stepped on the base while on possession of the ball. The onfield umpire put up the out sign with raised right first, but our SS for some reason also decided to try and tag the runner- as the runner slid in, he dropped the ball. The home plate umpire then said the runner was safe due to dropping the ball. What I believe is a violation is the home plate umpire overturning this call. I have video showing the “out” call after my SS stepped on 2B.

The second violation is that their starting pitcher threw 72 pitches. They then put him in as catcher, which I only realized after the game. LL Rules seems to state a pitcher is not allowed to catch after throwing 41 or more pitches.

I submitted to the league president that I am protesting the outcome of this game….any advice would be appreciated. My kids are of course devastated.
