1st Subaru…..Forster Hybrid Touring

1st Subaru…..Forster Hybrid Touring

I waited for the new woodland RAV4 for 3 months. I put in an order and as of last week there was no RAV in sight for the one I wanted. I looked at 4 different car dealers in my area and most of them had black or white available, but I was only interested in the green or greyish color (urban rock). Websites wouldn’t say if a sale was pending and then I’d reach out and they would say it was already sold. I was told from one dealer that they were getting 6 in August and nothing so far.

My partner and I have been a one car household for over 2 years and we were getting into a time crunch with our schedules becoming increasingly busier starting next month. I started looking last week to see what was comparable and the Forester came up and that’s when I learned about the hybrid; I was excited and started looking around. Of course I wanted the green which, again, is a harder color to get. Luckily there was one available and it all worked out. This is my first Subaru and I love the visibility and how open it feels inside. I don’t do a lot of heavy off roading and figured this would meet my needs when I do drive a dirt road. I’ve already gotten the windows tinted and the clear bra on the front. I had the rep come out yesterday to go over all the technology available. I love the cooling option for the seats, the ability to use the map system offline, and memory seat settings, and the heating steering wheel when needed.

I’m loving this color so much. The air conditioning is intense which I like as it cools the car down so quickly especially with the windows tinted. This picture was on my way to drop it off to be tinted.

I got an armrest cover, a sun visor Kleenex holder, the cargo mat, rear seat mat, and a headrest trash bin. I’ve read through several posts about the ways people have personalized their Forestors as well as different add ons. I wanted to see what else is out there and gather some links/businesses that you recommend.

How well has your Touring Hybrid done on dirt roads on mountain trails, etc?

Any suggestions for caring for my Subaru that you’ve experienced outside of the owners manual recommendations?

I’m open to all of your input.

Thank you and I look forward to my long term relationship with this car and all the memories we’ll have together.

‘26 Forester Hybrid

I stopped by a Subaru dealership yesterday and told the guy I wanted the Hybrid Forestor and test drove the Touring. I decided on the limited trim and then thought I had found the Touring for the same price as the Limited trim so I reached out to the sales rep and asked him to have it at the dealership today. Come to find out it was the Touring but not the Hybrid Touring. I confirmed that in fact I wanted the green Hybrid Forestor. He sent me a deal on the black one I test drove yesterday and was excited about the deal until I noticed it was the black one.🥴 In the meantime I had reached out to another dealer who was tied to the Costco membership and he texted back the $40k and some change quote. I went back to the first guy and told him I would buy from him if he could match it. He then sent a price breakdown of a limited.
I reached out to the other dealer to see if he could send me a link to the car I would be looking at tomorrow and he said it’s not on the website yet.
I texted the original dealer that I only wanted the Green Touring so he sent me a price sheet with a discount of $2,700 and I texted him back and asked for a breakdown of the discount to see if it included the $500 educator discount but didn’t say that because I wanted to see if it was included. I also said that he’s within $1k of the Costco discount and asked what add ons he could include that would make up for the $1k difference and I’m waiting to hear back.

I’m looking for recommendations of how to continue this negotiation process tomorrow. What are some things I should ask for or say?

Thank you

Fresh Milled Flour in the Salt Lake Area

I’m looking for a place near Salt Lake, within 30 minutes, where I can get fresh milled flour for baking sourdough, muffins, etc. I have used Einkorn, Bread Flour, and Whole Wheat. I’m looking for anything other than the extra bleached flour on the shelf at the store.
Thank you!!
