In a major headache trying to buy a new Mazda3

Soo I’m trying to buy a blue trim 2.5 S Mazda3 negotiated the price for two dealerships down to $24,800 but one dealership the car after dealer trades and test drives is at 205 miles and the other dealership said they could get me a trade from a dealer and it would have less than 100 miles on it. The dealership with the car with 205 miles is offering me $1 off each mile cause when they showed me paperwork it only said 10 miles so I got pissed and now I’m getting that offer of $24,600. For context though the 205 miles car is like 80 miles away from me and the other place is only like 30 mins. Do you think it’s worth it to drive the extra miles for the $200 off or just get the car from the local dealership with no discount for any mileage accrued from the dealer trade. Please all suggestions and advice will help!!!

Is this a good OTD price for a 2026 Elantra SEL Sport Plus?

Could I get a better deal? Is this below market value?

Dealer is not willing to give me a better discount…

Good Deal for 2027 Prius XLE?

Dealership salesperson called me today to follow-up on my interest in the 26/27 Prius XLE - I checked their stock - they told me it was sold but they had the '26 XSE Premium Plug-In Hybrid model - I decided I"ll just test drive it so I went in.

Test-drove the Premium model above (Again, NOT what I was looking for - decided NOT to go with it) because I wasn't looking at paying about 8-10K more.

As I was headed out salesperson comes back - tells me that a purchase had fallen through with what I was looking for - turns out they 'do' have a '27 Prius XLE with the colors I wanted (blue outside, black inside) - again I don't care much about the difference between 26 vs 27.

They had it stickered for 35.7 - with their tint and other crap thrown in, 36.7k STICKER.

Additional stuff thrown in: Zaktek, Clear shield, Window Tint (Tint is a big one for me)

Carpet mats, Cargo net, Dash cam, Door sill protectors, Mud Guards, Vehicle Protection package.

Manager comes to me and asks me what I'm looking to pay for a deal tonight. I remained silent. He offered me 34K OTD. I told him I didn't have my wire info (I really didn't and couldn't have even purchased the car). Afterwards, I told the salesperson it was a sweet deal and I'd think about it.

Is something going on here? Am I/was I a fool for turning down this offer. I know MSRP is about 32K and with TTL we're looking at 34K anyway (without all the add-ons above).

Open to any information/feedback. I'm scheduled to go back to them tomorrow because in all honesty the deal I've been offered based off my research seems pretty damn good. Anyone have advice on how I can try to negotiate more or is this as sweet of a deal that I can get. Is there something going on here that I'm missing?

Explain process

I’ve never bought it a brand new car or even worked with a dealer. Have always done private used sales. How does this work exactly re negotiating process, knowing appropriate OTD etc…

I’m lost please help me get the best bang for my buck when I go in this week.

Edited to add I’m specifically curious about the negotiation, finding a deal process and all the hidden fees. I understand about calling around first but what next and what are we saying over the phone? I don’t want to sit at a table for hours

Oh and we are probably paying cash and trying to trade in

2026 Ram Limited deal

About to pull the trigger. 30% off MSRP. Insane deal. I wasn’t in the market to upgrade from my gladiator, but I feel like I would be stupid not to take advantage of the price. Plus I have my second little one coming in October so would welcome the extra space.
P.s. The “non OEM” fee is shipping the truck to TN and my trade in back to FL.

2026 F150 XLT w 302a - pricing?

As the headline suggests, looking at a new F150 XLT, 4x4, 2.7, 302a package. MSRP (incl delivery) between $61-63k (with a few options). Location - New England.

Ford is offering $4k of incentives. Dealer advertised prices, net of the incentives including dealer discount and doc fees but excluding TTL at $52-56k.

What are other folks paying/negotiating to? Or what source of information are you looking at to determine? Some of these been sitting on lot for 100+ days. Thanks!

August 2026 broker deals ranked by true effective cost (monthly + DAS + broker fee, all in)

Back with the August version. I went through 50 broker deals posted for this month and ranked them by what the lease actually costs, not the advertised payment. Same math as the July post, and by popular demand there is now a region column.

Quick refresher on why: monthly payment alone tells you nothing. One broker this month is advertising a GLA at $159/mo with $3,500 due at signing. Another has a QX60 at $429/mo with zero down. You cannot compare those numbers as posted, so I flatten everything into one figure.

True effective cost = (every monthly payment + due at signing + broker fee) / months in term

Then divide by MSRP to grade the deal. The old rule of thumb is that around 1% of MSRP per month is a solid lease, and under 0.8% is where it gets genuinely good. These are the brokers' own advertised numbers, I just ran the math on all of them.

A note on the region column: that is where the deal is written, but several of these brokers deliver multi-state (the 27 and 30 state entries are exactly that), so ask about shipping before ruling anything out.

A few things that jumped out this month:

The S63 at the top is not a typo. $1,118 all-in effective on a $213,785 sticker works out to 0.52% of MSRP, there is no broker fee, and it is available nationwide. If you have been waiting on an excuse to drive an S63 for less than most people pay for an X5, this is it.

The Ioniq 5 SE at #2 is the value play of the month for normal humans. $321 effective on a $52k sticker with only $299 due at signing, NJ/NY only though.

Watch the $3,500 DAS pattern. A lot of the Mercedes deals advertise eye-catching payments ($159, $189, $209) but carry $3,500 due at signing. The GLA at $159/mo is really a $334/mo car once you spread that out. Still a good deal at 0.65%, just not a $159 deal.

BMW is clearly stuffing cash on the 7 series. Six of them made the list: three i7 eDrive50s, an i7 xDrive60, a 740xi, and even a 760xi. That is a $108k to $130k car in the mid $800s to low $1,000s effective. The best i7 number requires loyalty, so check if you qualify before getting excited.

Volvo is quietly dumping PHEVs. Seven Volvos on the list, all in the bottom half: four XC60 T8s, two XC90 T8s, and an EX90. None of them are spectacular but a three-row plug-in XC90 in the low $600s effective is a fine family car number, and most of them ship to 30 states.

Usual caveats: these are advertised numbers, so taxes and regional fees vary and some DAS figures include the first payment while others do not, which can swing a deal by roughly one payment either way. Loyalty and conquest requirements apply on some. Confirm shipping or pickup costs before you fall in love with anything. Some of them seem to include MSD's too.

Happy to run the math on any deal posted in the comments.

What OTD price should I negotiate for this 2026 Mustang EcoBoost Premium in WA?

I’m interested in a new 2026 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Premium in Washington State. Here’s the dealer listing:

https://www.soundford.com/new/Ford/2026-Ford-Mustang-78d0a534ac184c05c3a1f37b4265ef29.htm

Here are the details:

- MSRP: $45,395
- Advertised price: $38,095
- Dealer discount: $5,000
- Ford rebate: $2,500
- Doc fee: $200
- Mileage: 5 miles
- Trim: EcoBoost Premium
- Color: Vapor Blue Metallic
- Transmission: Automatic / RWD
- Listing duration: Approximately 174 days

The car has been sitting for almost 6 months, so I’m curious about how much more room there might be to negotiate.

Since I live in Washington State, I’d like to know what you guys consider a good OTD price and an excellent OTD price. Would something around $39k-$40k OTD be realistic, or am I being too aggressive?

Also, should I negotiate the selling price further before bringing up the Ford rebate?

Any Mustang/Ford buyers or WA dealers who can give me an idea of what number I should walk in with?

Buying a new Toyota RAV4 from Al-Futtaim – AED 105,900 car becomes AED 134,864. Which add-ons are actually worth it?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently buying a new Toyota RAV4 from Al-Futtaim Toyota UAE and I’m reviewing the final quotation before I proceed.

The actual vehicle price is AED 105,900, but with insurance, service contract and all the additional products, the quotation comes to AED 134,864.

Here is the full breakdown:

  1. Net Selling Price of Vehicle AED 105,900
  2. Comprehensive Motor Insurance AED 4,458
  3. Service & Maintenance Contract – 4 years / 80,000 km AED 8,699
  4. ILOE – 3 years AED 1,111
  5. Graphene Paint Protection – 7 years AED 3,999
  6. SMART Care Plan Bronze – 6 vouchers AED 2,399
  7. GAP / Vehicle Replacement Protection – 3 years AED 2,849
  8. Window Tinting AED 1,399
  9. Rust Proofing AED 1,050
  10. Shipping & Handling AED 3,000
    TOTAL AED 134,864

The last three items (tint, rust proofing and shipping/handling) are combined as AED 5,449 on the actual quotation, but Al-Futtaim confirmed to me that the breakdown is AED 1,399 + AED 1,050 + AED 3,000.

The two items I’m particularly unsure about are:

1. Service & Maintenance Contract – AED 8,699
This covers 4 years / 80,000 km. I’m trying to understand how much I would actually spend if I just paid Al-Futtaim individually for every scheduled service up to 80,000 km instead.

2. Shipping & Handling – AED 3,000
Al-Futtaim told me the AED 3,000 is “included as part of the car price”, but the quotation shows AED 105,900 as the Net Selling Price of Vehicle and then the AED 3,000 appears within the additional AED 5,449 line.

For those who have recently bought a Toyota/RAV4 from Al-Futtaim: Which of these would you keep and which would you remove?

I’m financing the car, so I’m trying to avoid adding unnecessary products to the financed amount and paying interest on them as well.

I’m planning to buy this car for a long term use, minimum 5 years. I’m generally a law-abiding citizen when it comes to traffic rules and never had an accident before. This car will be my daily car. I don’t drive a lot in general. Back then, I only drive generally 10,000km-15,000km per year. I still want to have this car so please don’t suggest me with another car model.

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has recently purchased or services a Toyota through Al-Futtaim. Thanks!

GM employee discount vs the GM Executive discount — What’s the difference??

Could someone shed some light on the difference between the GM Executive Discount and the standard GM Employee Discount?

I’m eligible for the Executive Discount, but while shopping around at different GM dealers, I’ve gotten a lot of conflicting information. Some salespeople have never heard of the Executive program, while others have told me it’s essentially the same as the Employee Discount and that there’s no difference in the actual vehicle price.

A couple questions for anyone familiar:

* Is the Executive Discount actually different from the Employee Discount in terms of pricing or incentives?

* If I qualify for both the Executive Discount and regular GM Employee Discount, can they be combined/stacked, or do you have to choose one?

* If you have to choose, is there any advantage to using the Executive authorization over the Employee Discount, or vice versa?

* Are there certain rebates/incentives that work with one program but not the other?

I’m mainly trying to figure out whether there’s any reason to use my Executive eligibility if I can already qualify for Employee pricing.

I’d appreciate anyone with some insight.

‘26 Forester Hybrid

I stopped by a Subaru dealership yesterday and told the guy I wanted the Hybrid Forestor and test drove the Touring. I decided on the limited trim and then thought I had found the Touring for the same price as the Limited trim so I reached out to the sales rep and asked him to have it at the dealership today. Come to find out it was the Touring but not the Hybrid Touring. I confirmed that in fact I wanted the green Hybrid Forestor. He sent me a deal on the black one I test drove yesterday and was excited about the deal until I noticed it was the black one.🥴 In the meantime I had reached out to another dealer who was tied to the Costco membership and he texted back the $40k and some change quote. I went back to the first guy and told him I would buy from him if he could match it. He then sent a price breakdown of a limited.
I reached out to the other dealer to see if he could send me a link to the car I would be looking at tomorrow and he said it’s not on the website yet.
I texted the original dealer that I only wanted the Green Touring so he sent me a price sheet with a discount of $2,700 and I texted him back and asked for a breakdown of the discount to see if it included the $500 educator discount but didn’t say that because I wanted to see if it was included. I also said that he’s within $1k of the Costco discount and asked what add ons he could include that would make up for the $1k difference and I’m waiting to hear back.

I’m looking for recommendations of how to continue this negotiation process tomorrow. What are some things I should ask for or say?

Thank you
