Recs for 15 yr. old Cat Euthanasia....coming up

I have an elderly cat that I can see slipping/fading. She is getting thin but still eats a little. I've had so many cats and don't do annual exams or vax for her any longer. She has been to one vet a couple of times so we have a "chart". I am looking for alternatives to going to my regular vet because with the last cat I had to have put down, the charge was $400 for "end of life evaluation". That cat had an obvious oral tumor and the cancer had probably spread. I knew it was time, no doubt about it! When it's time for this one, I'm find with just euthanasia and no "evaluation". Suggestions for other vets ?

Dog dumped at Surfer's Knoll parking lot Sunday morning

I got there a little after 7 am and as I was walking on the beach a man asked me if I had seen a brown dog with longer hair running around. A few minutes earlier he saw a man pull the dog out of a gray SUV with a leash then he ran around to the driver's side and peeled out of the parking lot. No direction on the dog and everybody who came after was told to be on the look out. We told Harbor Patrol....So if you know anyone whose dog has vanished.....and drives a gray SUV! Lots of AH out there.

will the post office pay to resend a package marked "so such number"?

eBay sale...tracking shows coming back to me the seller stamped NO SUCH NUMBER. The buyer lives in a 250 person town and the package doesn't show it ever got there. It shows another town 50 miles away so my guess (and another worker in another nearby town I called agreed) is that they looked at the address for the wrong town and surprise....Doesn't exist because ....wrong town! When it comes back to me will the post office take the hit and resend for free? It's clearly their mistake because the buyer gets mail to his house every day and it's a printed label, not handwritten.
