The Last Homely House

Having lived in the US and UK I've come to learn that "homely" doesn't have the same meaning in both places.

In a recent discussion in this sub I described the movie version of Rivendell as being "particularly un-homely" , only to have a few responses from Americans not knowing what Tolkien meant.

Which leads me to the question, has a whole country been visualizing Rivendell in a completely different fashion?

Americans, how have you imagined The Last Homely House?

Motherboard and GPU recommendations for AM4 build

Hi All!

I'm building a new PC for my boy. He's currently using an i5 6600 Dell Optiplex with a GTX 1050. He plays at 1080p and is generally happy if a game runs, even on low settings. He just likes to play.

The types of games he plays most:

Subnautica
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Space Engineers
Borderlands 1-3

We're reaching a point where games are becoming unplayable even on low (e.g., Subnautica 2).

My goal is to upgrade him to be able to play any game, even if on medium-low settings and with frame generation. I'm also looking to do it on a low budget.

I'm going AM4 to re-purpose 32gb I already have. I have also picked up a ryzen 5500, because it was only $70, and a 700W PSU. I'm re-purposing hard drives.

I'm still looking for a reasonable AM4 motherboard and a GPU.

If I could get both motherboard and GPU for $350 combined, that would be okay. $300 would be better.

Any recommendations?
