Youtube TV and Nord

So the only sport I watch is NFL. A good friend and I split the cost for the NFL package on Youtube TV.

While I was having issue with Nord VPN on my phone (due to gps and location services) our new Skyworth google TV hooked us up.

So I can verify Nord VPN works at least on the Skyworth with YTTV.

Along with:

Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Package.

Prime and Netflix didnt care and worked w/o the VPN. Just different shows/movies are available depending where you are.

Just a going on 3 week good morning..

Had the wall engineer come out yesterday, he will be sending some information as to price etc come next week.

Need to wall this place in by the time we get back.😂

Achitect coming out today so we can discuss floorplans and start getting ideas tossed around so hopefully our build can start the month we return.

Making coffee... hope everyone has a great day!

While I know its 240 is solar easier to go 110/120 or split it?

Coming from the states in Jan to start our build. Solar is a no brainer but im also probably/maybe bringing electric items that are 110.

Is that an easy thing for solar? Have a 110 section and then a 240 section?

Not worried about color coding/iding sockets. Not asking about bringing items or just buying here.

Thanks!

Been a little busy but we own it now.

It will take the official title a few months but everything else is done.

So those that say it ALWAYS takes months or longer.. it might. However I can be done in less time if you are prepared and everything falls into place and you have the people working for you.

I will say to the best of my knowledge (as we didnt pay any extra money) no ones palms were greased.

The seller wanted to sell and we wanted to buy.

Her son inlaw will be overseeing some work we want done before we return (3 ft wall topped with barbed wire) walled property (remember that night visitor...😁) to keep animals out we also have a few dogs that visit. It will also keep our animals in.

Some electric work on the kubo/guest house as we will be staying in that long term when we return as our main house is built.

We are in San Narcisco having some vacay time with the family.

The heat... i will have to say that is my biggest problem. Im dripping sweat and everyone else is bone dry...😁 I just drink a lot of bottled water.

I just had a meal off some banana leaves... rice, pork, fish and hot dogs. The veggie soup (forget the name) which I didnt eat (i will eventualy try it). First time eating with my hands even having (late wife) associations with Pkis in the past...

So far still loving it!!

First night on the farm

We are in a bahay kubo. Once we build it will be our guest house.

So didnt sleep great but Ive had worse. Just new expierences, new sounds new place.

Wife said it was a lizard.... making a noise id never heard before...😊

Woke at 2am to a bovine sounding a bit too close. Opened the door and there it was... caught me a little off guard.

Once he/she stopped mooing and moved along it was pretty quiet til about 4am.... then the roosters.

Was still able to get back to sleep....

Woke around 530ish and enjoyed our first cup of coffee on our property.

Got the Starlink mini. Very happy/impressed with it. May still get a hard line once/as our house is built and use the mini as/if needed.

Since we plan to occasionally island hop (cant all be chickens, goats and farming... 😅) later after we get settled it should come in handy.

Any tips on the best fly and mosquito repellant? General "bug" control in house?

Thanks for reading.

Update after 7 days...

So... Monday we will pick up my wifes new car and tomorrow we move into (onto?) our purchased farm.

So in less than 10 days Ive bought a farm with a house on it, and bought a new car. Yes they are both in my wifes name. No im not worried aboit her up and kicking me out.

Boy was it hot that first 7 days, now the rain has started..... walked the property with the surveyors it was a nice rain. Been heavy on and off.

Tomorrow we get some needed items for the farmhouse. Looking for a Starlink kit has been an issue.

Ive been generous with my new grandkids. One of them was wearing hand me down school shoes that were at least 3 sizes to big.

Im slowly picking up how they drive here. There is a method to the madness. I pick this up watching my son in law. Still not ready to drive myself.

Oh I did post somewhere about the car wewere picking up, when we got to the dealership.... there was a hybrid i pointed out to my wife so we made arrangements to purchase that instead. A much better car imo and even got a ton of extras and a refund.... go figure.

Anyho... having a blast. Got about 3 more weeks then back to the US to retire in Oct and sell e erything coming back Jan 27 perm.

Ask questions if ya like.... why so long of a post... well just laying here thought id update like I said i would.

I may regret this.....but here it goes...

So in 6 days my wife and I fly out to the Philippines for a month.

We already have a place to stay the first week. That first week we have a few properties to look at along with spending time with family.

We hope to make a decision that week on the property. I do understand poop happens. However lets say the first week we conduct what business we need and have about 3 weeks to enjoy the Philippines.

For the two of us and OCCASIONALLY about 5 other family members whats a decent amount of money to "bring"? When I say bring I mean I can put a limit on my debit card and "lock it". OR should I just use my Amex or a combo of both?

I want to hit Manila (will probably be our last few days there) and a few eateries there and treat her to a very nice hotel stay a night or two.

I also want to hit the Canadian Beaver in Roxas.... (that didnt sound right)

We will need a few places to stay "here and there" depending.... during those last 3 weeks.

We will start out in Quezon and may come back a time or two as that is the area her family is in.

I was thinking 5 to 7k?

Then with that should I just pull cash at certain times when I can? Or just use the debit/Amex when and where its needed?

On debits do they use the PIN feature at establishments (like higher end restaurants, tourist spots, etc)?

Thanks for reading.

Another off the wall question... TVs....

I have a Sylvox here in the states. Out in my 3 seasons room (had outside before the room was built). Weatherproof high nit (to view in bright sunlight).

Im checking with them now to see the shipping cost if I were to buy and have them ship as I really like the encasement.

Does anyone have any expierence with an "outdoor" TV? While the sylvox does have internal fans Im thinking the PH heat may be an issue but again for it to be weather proof it needs to be encased. They rate them to about 120 degrees.... but im thinking this is going to be eclipsed in the PH easy.

Ive seen some of the "plastic" cases you can buy and place a TV in but not too sure about those either....

So anyone out there run a TV outside in the "weather"?

Scriber Accessories

My wife bought a pair of the Scribers while I got the Wayfarers (both Gen2), and Im not finding as many accesories for the Scribers.

Are they just that new that there are none out there.

For example external batteries and polarized clip ons.

Thanks!

Electric Trucks

Since we are planning to live the "farm" life I want/need a truck. My first thoughts (and big want) was a Ranger Raptor. Ive always wanted one. (still may do it but..) However I still live with the mindset of why pay that much, then gas etc.

I know some of you will say why not buy used. Ive never bought a used vehicle. So im prudeish when It comes to that. So I want new. Yes I do understand the probability of dings/dents and scrapes... its a truck it will happen.

Does anyone have any expierence with some of the Electric Trucks? Im going down this path as we will have solar installed with our house build and it makes sense. That along with most companies that have a PU truck electric also have decent small/midsized cars (for my wife).

Ive looked at a few online but want to know if anyone has one (doesnt matter brand or maker Chinese/Japanese etc.) and their expierence with them?

In the Philippines.... not your home country, not what youve read online and not what your brothers, wifes, sisters cousin expierenced.

Thanks!

Venom Farm?

Is there anyway to have a venom farm? Like a pen or something full of scorps/frogs etc? Or do you have to hunt them?

Amex or Visa/MC?

So preparing my finances. I do have a debit card but as it is understood they do not have as many consumer protections.

I have an Amex Plat but wasnt sure of the overall acceptance of that is.

Whats the view of closing the Amex or keeping it just for travel (airflight/hotel res) and getting a V/M?

Or do you think the debit card is fine. I mean i can drop its limit down to 1k and while if i lose 1k it wont hurt as much.
