Mini Review: new steak-umm stuff-umms

I was sad earlier this summer to see the frozen Unos steak and cheese calzones gone from my local BJs!

It all made sense when these appeared. I am guessing it's no coincidence.

These Stuff-Umms are a similar product. It's only four per package, but they are 6oz vs the 4oz the Unos are.

I've now cooked two. One in my air fryer, and one in the microwave.

The filling is pretty good! I think it's a bit under seasoned. It could use just a bit more salt and perhaps some onions, peppers or mushrooms.

The pastry however is... Underwhelming. It is mealy. It is very thick at the crimps. Air fried it goes from the original yellow to a burned brown in a blink. Microwaved, it's too moist.

I am sad.

Sam's Club still has the Unos calzones! But I don't have a car and Sam's Club is too far.

What is "Technology Level" output from labs?

I can't find it documented. Has anyone here managed to understand what the technology output from a lab is?

It's difficult for me to understand; the tech "tree" is a directed acyclic graph and it has a lot of enumerable states...

UPDATE: a bunch of helpful people have replied: it's just the level of a repeatable research.

(also expanded dag to directed acyclic graph since people were confused in comments)

What's up with Popehat being banned?

Ken White, a pretty skilled first amendment lawyer and great Bluesky poster seems to have been banned.

I haven't seen much discussion of it, and certainly nothing from Bluesky, but it's been a day or so and... Crickets.

Here's the best discussion of it that I have found: https://bsky.app/profile/gregdoucette.bsky.social/post/3mou3xrdtac2q

Does anyone know what's up? Has anyone at BS said anything?

Orange Pi 4 Pro: has anyone ever built a bootable Android image?

Hi!

I have an Orange Pi 4 Pro. I am running the Android 13 image. I followed the instructions in the manual to build an android image, and it doesn't boot.

Has anyone had any success building Android for this device?

Orange Pi 4 Pro GPU: has anyone actually used it?

I've got one of these boards, and I'm really disappointed. I can't run anything that requires a GPU.

The documentation says it only works in bullseye.

On the bullseye image they provide, anything using a GPU that I build either doesn't find the GPU, or crashes.

I tried to build my own bullseye image. The build script didn't work; they include a custom VLC package that's out of date in bullseye.

After fixing that, it's still just everything crashes.

What am I missing? Has anyone ever run anything with a GPU on this board?

UPDATE: I built and installed the stock android image, and it uses the GPU.

UFS devices?

Hi, I just ordered an orange pi 4 pro for a few uses.

I'm trying to choose the storage. It seems to have eMMC 5.1 and UFS 3.0 connectors. However, I can't find any UFS devices for it (but I can find some for e.g. the rasp pi nano).

Does anyone know of any UFS devices that work?

As well can nvme be used at the same time as either ufs or emmc? They do look physically incompatible.
