Looking for a tutorial to create something similar to the Flower Petal Top pattern by Rohini C

I want to use the pattern as a border for a shawl - just looking for a tutorial for the stitch. Any leads will be helpful. Preferably something that I can build up along the length of the shawl and not something that I make up vertically and attach to the shawl.

Making a shawl in accordance with a pattern. The pattern called for 18inches width. Now I am roughly three fourth way through and I feel like it is not wise enough. Any ideas how to fix this?

I was planning on using the shawl in office - I have a normal shawl in office and I compared the two in size and my normal shawl is double in its width. I have considered making the same thing all over again and then join the two length wise. But it won't have a smooth drape I think. I have been contemplating making a wide border but need ideas for it.
