[LIGHT AND NIGHT] Turbulent beta test, AI voices drama and debunk, new pre registration event & more

  1. Beta test issues

The tempers started running high online some minutes after the beta test for the SEA server of Light and Night was supposed to start on May 20th. Only at 3pm (GMT +7), four hours after the supposed server opening, the devs posted about the login issue. Connection timeouts, almost 3k-users-long queues... Nobody could start playing the game.

After the issues were solved, download would pause several times with server connection and storage errors (even with more than enough spage available). Only few people were persistent enough to tap the error pop ups away hundreds of times and join the beta before 11pm, half a day after the supposed beta release and when all the connection issues were solved.

  1. AI voice over

It was suspected that the English voices were AI generated. Quality isn't that good and some amateur mistakes were noticed, like the line "cough cough cough" being said out loud and not acted as the action of coughing.

However, the team posted only on Discord that no AI was used and that the game will never use such tool in the future (1st image).

  1. New pre registration milestone and gacha event

Today a new pre registration web event with milestones was introduced. Login on the event page (http://lightandnight.vnggames.com/pre-gacha) to pre register and participate on the gacha event.

For a total of 6m pre registrations, some coins, material, pulling currency x500, an avatar frame and a 4* card will be awarded (currently, the game has 2.3m registrations).

A gacha was introduced with the odds of getting a card during launch (3 to 5 stars). Everyday a free pull is awarded, and you can get pulls for completing missions. If you draw 50x, you hit "pity" and get a choice of one card out of the 5* available in the event.

From June 16th to July 7th users will be able to choose the card they want to receive on release.

Cards available in this event are in the second image of this post.

  1. Beta test event fixed

A login event for the beta test (full data wipe btw) wasn't that well planned and it had 8 days of login for the last reward, a 5* card. With the issues at the beta release, a lot of people missed the first day, making it impossible to get the card. So in the last day of the beta (May 27th) the card will be awarded via mail to everyone who logged in at least once during the test.

At this point, it's clearly greed and intentional...

For the last 6 days I've been noticing I don't get a single rainbow credit (outfit gacha currency) from the free daily pull. Maybe it's been even more days but I didn't notice before.

Even the capsule event that awards 5 pulls daily hasn't been awarding RCs for almost a week.

The game's already in a pretty bad state with a big player loss and matchmaking becoming worse and worse with the longer queues. Still, Devsisters shaft players day after day, idk what they expect to get from that.

So we'll have 2 new Digimon gachas this year (one being more of a booster/TCG game). In the recent dev talk (https://youtu.be/lsYJJe00ESA), it was revealed that the game's still planned for 2026.

Digimon UP will potentially be released on July 28th, according to the Appstore. And with the new info of the physical decks Digimon Alysion: Rubeusdramon/Yukinamon coming this December, it kinda hints for a late 2026 release.

Besides that, more things were confirmed, like the presence of the 13 Royal Kights and X-antibody digimon in the game, and new card illustration that are gonna be present on release.

Developed by LumiTopia and its team of 20 people, there's a new 3D otome gacha in town...

The teaser for "Last Serenade" was overshadowed due to its unfortunate release window: the day after the already heavily awaited "Silent Whispers". It also doesn't help its case that the social media presence of the game is quite limited, since it only has an official account on XHS (RedNote), not being present on popular platforms like Weibo or Bilibili.

The game is set on a post-modern city and its story fits into the recently popularized infinite flow genre, which is basically the basis of another CN otome, "Beyond the World". Think of the anime "Gantz", but with several iterations: the subjects wake up on a strange place (called mirror world in the game) and have a certain objective to fulfill, then they go to new worlds as they reach the goal of the previous iteration of the flow. It's also emphasized that the game will be focused on puzzle solving besides the immersive romance aspects.

There's a lot of talk about AI in everything surrounding this game (news, interviews). For instance, the devs talk a lot about using AI for the guys, seemingly making them answer the player; at the very least, it seems like an actual game developed in UE5, and not just an AI chatbot like the previous announced "Eve AI" and "Sol007".

Besides that, they also said in an interview that "within the mirror world, the game builds a narrative-driven roguelike framework powered by AI-generated story stages". Only time will tell what's actually about and how extensive is the AI usage in-game, though.

Despite having had a small beta test last year, footage of said test isn't easily available, but there's a lot of mixed talks about said beta online, specially on RedNote and Weibo. The only unanimous veredict is about its story being very interesting and well done for the first chapters (the part available during the beta). On the other hand, there's a lot of people criticizing the looks of the two love interests, with lots of ironic comments saying they need plastic surgery before release (seriously, the amount of people saying things like "go back to the surgery table" on XHS is quite hilarious).

Having quite a small following, "Last Serenade" seems to be growing a bit in the last few days, when several videos and pictures of the game's presence on COMIC UP 32 (a quite big ACG/doujins convention in China). They've brought to the CP32 (what an unfortunate abbreviation) a test build of the game to try and two cosplayers representing the romanceable boys.

I'll leave pictures of the love interests in the comments below.

ATTENTION

This is a machine translation of the article "米哈游国际化负责人金雯怡将离职,前B站副总裁接手" from Netease. Unfortunately I can't post its URL here, but it's easily searchable.

Please head to the end of the post for a tl;dr.

New Changes

According to Jinghe, Jin Wenyi, Head of Globalization at miHoYo, has recently submitted her resignation.

When contacted for confirmation, miHoYo responded:

> “Wenyi has submitted her resignation due to personal career planning reasons. The company thanks her for her contributions to the global development of our products and wishes her all the best in her future endeavors.”

It is also reported that after Jin Wenyi’s departure, Wang Yuyang (Seven), former Vice President of Bilibili, will take over the role.

Wang Yuyang founded Da’e Culture in 2017, which became a leading live-streaming talent agency within a year. In March 2020, after Da’e Culture merged with Xiaoxiang Interactive Entertainment, he joined Bilibili’s live-streaming division with his core team. He was promoted to Vice President of Bilibili in 2022.

Sources say Seven had also joined Anuttacon (an AI company founded by Cai Haoyu) and recently joined miHoYo to oversee global publishing and internationalization for Varsapura.

Jin Wenyi’s Background and Contributions

Before joining miHoYo, Jin worked at FunPlus as Head of Marketing and Business, responsible for overseas promotion of game publishing.

After joining miHoYo, as Head of Globalization, her responsibilities included:

  • Market research

  • Localization

  • Cross-platform publishing

  • Brand marketing

  • Community operations

Company Structural Changes (2023)

In September 2023, Cai Haoyu stepped down as legal representative and chairman of Shanghai miHoYo, with Liu Wei taking over.

At the same time:

  • The board was reduced from 7 members to 5

  • Cai Haoyu and Luan Wei stepped down as directors

  • Wang Chen was added

Current directors include:

  • Wang Chen

  • Yu Chenxi

  • Jiang Dawei

  • Liu Wei

  • Luo Yuhao

The supervisory board also changed:

  • Jin Wenyi and Wang Chen stepped down

  • Liu Xiao and Sun Hui were added

However, these business registration changes do not fully reflect actual internal role adjustments.

Her Influence on Global Expansion

From 2020 to 2023, Jin frequently represented miHoYo at global game industry events, sharing the company’s internationalization experience.

She emphasized:

> “User first, content is king.”

She believed the key to success was continuous communication with players and aligning development direction with player feedback.

In 2023, she represented miHoYo at the PlayStation Partner Awards and received a partner award.

Key Projects

Jin Wenyi played a major role in:

  • Global launch strategy of Genshin Impact

  • Global publishing of Tears of Themis

  • Global promotion of Honkai Impact 3rd

She revealed that Genshin Impact adopted a cross-platform strategy from the beginning, allowing seamless play across devices. After launch, it exceeded expectations—especially in regions like South America—showing that high-quality content can overcome cultural barriers.

Excerpt from Jin Wenyi’s Internal Letter

> Dear colleagues in the globalization team,

> I have recently submitted my resignation and will officially leave miHoYo/HoYoverse at the end of May.

> Since 2017, we have built miHoYo’s global publishing capabilities from scratch, allowing players worldwide to experience our games. Over the years, we’ve achieved top results among Chinese companies going global, which is something to be proud of.

> But what I value most is meeting such an outstanding group of people. Together, we turned the impossible into possible and created benchmark cases for the industry. Becoming friends with all of you is what makes me happiest.

> My resignation is part of my personal career planning—I want to explore the world outside. Seven will take over and continue leading globalization efforts. I will spend the next month completing the transition with him.

> Though we part ways, we will meet again. The world is small—see you again in the future.

TL;DR

  • Jin Wenyi, the only woman in Hoyo's executive board, send her resignation letter;

  • Wang Yuyang, former Bilibili VP, will takeover;

  • She took part in Genshin Impact's global launch, Tears of Themis' global publishing and global promotion of Honkai Impact 3rd;

  • Wenyi's motto was "user first, content is king";

  • Wenyi used to be Hoyo's representative in global events, like the Playstation Partner Awards 2023, where she accepted the Grand Award for Genshin;

  • Genshin's popularity exceeded expectations, specially in regions like South America;

  • After Bilibili, Yuyang joined Hoyo after joining Cai Haoyu's AI company Anuttacon, and he'll be responsible for the globalization of Varsapura (https://www.reddit.com/r/gachagaming/s/lJLWMu60Wq).

The official trailer for this upcoming hot springs event wasn't allowed to be released and will only be available in-game after the update on April 30th.

The 5 individual PVs were also censored (twice) from the official Chinese channels; in the Global side, Youtube also removed the fog-censored version. They're still up on Instagram and Twitter (https://x.com/Love\_Deepspace).

In responde to that, Infold released stick figure versions for the English social media, and abstract words for China.

The Chinese version is also being used on billboards to advertise the update: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DXqxoH1j7rY/

"Silent Whispers is a Multi-Platform Cinematic Love Adventure Game set in a fantasy metropolis, developed by Archosaur Games and powered by Unreal Engine 5.

"Welcome to the City of Fading Light! Here, you'll find all that is familiar: cafes steeped in the fragrance of roasted coffee; aerial stations harboring the hope of homebound journeys; a Ferris wheel burnished in gold by the setting sun… Yes. It’s just like any other city you know.

"There is no need to be afraid. As long as you can 'survive' in this city, it can become a refuge for the lost, can it not?"

---

Still unclear if it'll be open world or small area explorations, but it's definitely something to be excited for otome players!

Besides being marketed as "freeform urban exploration", it's also marketed as having cinematic 4K visuals and having a timeloop story, it's made using Unreal Engine 5. New phone, here I come 🫠
