music while streaming no longer allowed?

For the longest time, lofi girl explicitly said it was ok to use the music for streaming. Now it's not (May 2026)? Is this retroactive to old music that used to be ok?

I can only find info on "published videos", but not streaming. Old links are 404 missing.

Bog orchid

Not specifically a carnivore, but the bog orchid companion plant I bought 3 years ago finally grew and bloomed. It's survived being dug up by squirrels and mice and all sorts of unpleasant weather. Maybe the original was lost to the digging and this is a new bulb, I dunno. I hope it grows backup plants and spreads.

Dead grow point

This grow point has been sus all spring. Didn't look dead but also not growing. Today it looked dead. I dug it out. Hope that's enough to stop further rot.

Gigantea?

Last year I ordered some pings one of which is supposed to be Gigantea. It's certainly sized up since then. But I noticed the underside is not sticky which I read is a defining trait. What could this actually be? Just some random hybrid?

cuis book questions

So I just finished going through the cuis book, I think. I have a list of possible mistakes/inconsistencies (but this is my first time with smalltalk). But my main questions regarding the book are:

  • Were we supposed to finish the SpaceWar! program?
  • How do we run the SpaceWar! program?

Chapter 8 events captured keyboard controls, and then that's it? Are all the parts there? How do we put it together?

How do we run programs? I can't get 9.5.1 setUpEnvironment.st to work. Running it in a workspace works after multiple DoIt. Like the first try sets the temporary variables and the later actually uses them. I can't tell if running squeak.exe image -s setUpEnvironment.st is even trying. And don't .st files need to be exported by FileOut? Like, what's the equivalent of HelloWorld?

Was I supposed to learn Squeak first, then the Cuis differences?

Storm damage

Yesterday 's storm did quite a lot of damage. Washed out most of the substrate, some smaller plants, and ripped up the flowers and the new tender pitchers.

It was a bit of bad luck that the 4 inches in 30 minutes of rain came down so heavily that the roof runoff probably poured as a waterfall, twelve inches past the edge directly onto the pots and plants. During a normal rain, the pots are away from the roof lip.
