Do I have the wrong investment profile?

Am I doing anything wrong?

I’ve invested in Fundrise a little bit every month since almost a decade ago. It was always a invest and forget type of savings for me, to diversify from investing solely in stock. But I’m struggling to see returns being lower and lower. I ready around here some folks talk about a consisten 8% return? What am I doing wrong that my numbers are so low? Thanks!

Advise for basic and summer routines for 7 yo daughter

Hi everyone! I’m a white dad who grew up in Italy, and before adopting our daughter 7 years ago I knew absolutely nothing about caring for natural hair. She’s African American and learning how to care for it has been a journey.

The biggest challenge is that she’s extremely tender-headed, so detangling and parting can be painful. Through a lot of trial and error (and watching professionals work on her hair), I’ve gradually gotten better. These days I’m actually the only one she’ll let do her hair, which feels like a huge compliment.

My usual routine is washing and conditioning in sections, then detangling as I go. I’ve experimented with both a blow dryer + comb attachment and the RevAir (always with heat protectant). The stretching works well, but it takes a long time, and I think I’m using the wrong styling product. If I do twists on stretched hair with Fenty’s gel, they hold, but they shrink almost immediately. Otherwise I usually do twists or braids on wet hair.

From what I’ve read, if I’m twisting or braiding on stretched hair I should use a stronger, non-water-based styler, but I’d prefer to avoid petroleum if possible. For summer, when she’s swimming a lot, I’m thinking it’s better to skip the blow drying, use the LOC method on wet hair, and braid from there.

I’d love any advice, especially on making detangling less painful and whether my understanding of products and routines is on the right track. Thanks!
