I had the PERFECT copy-pasta primed for this moment

I kept slamming down this giant recipe in chats until I got my golden opportunity. I pasted and sent that text within SECONDS of the timer starting. Convo

On the same strat, here’s another convo, where the person slowly realized.

Why are tanks considered bad?

From content I’ve seen, tank units seem to be considered inherently bad, and I am legitimately baffled as to why.

Yes, Hoplite/Legionaire are bad. That doesn’t mean all non-dodge tanks are bad too, like Fighters, Shieldshooters, or Feathershields.

Even Alain (everyone’s favorite unit) is primarily a tank. If you don’t believe me, he’d still be great if you cut his damage in half, but cutting his bulk/HP in half would suddenly make him awful.

The most common argument I have heard is “why would you tank if you can just kill to avoid taking any damage?” Because you can’t always wipe out an enemy on higher difficulties without getting hit (eg Expert/Zenoiran). You can’t always totally avoid taking assist damage, either.

I’m so confused since every unit I’ve ever made for actual combat just generally performs better with a proper frontline (sometimes dodge tank, sometimes normal tank).

PSA Mercenary name availability is tied to the fort

I learned this when looking for a Witch named Minette. You can get a Witch named Minette at Fort Colmare, but not from Fort Farzieg. These forts have very different name listings.

Pick your fort wisely!

——

EDIT: Also names are sorted “alphabetically” in that list as if they were spelled with japanese kana. So a > i > u > e > o, within a consonant. Vowel > K/G > S/Sh/J > T/Ch > N > H/F/B/P > M > Y > R. I guess the game made in the land of the rising sun never saw names be re-sorted after localization. Japanify the names and it will fit the trend.

More tethered squishies on remotes (with instructions)

People were interested in the Megan we tethered to a remote so we could stop losing the remote (link). Here are some more examples with instructions and product links

Figure 1 (left to right): Meghan, Sol, Bijan, Cavaleri, Axel, Trenton.

All the squishies tethered via a silicone wrap around the base of the remote (eg Meghan in the far left) uses a product called a “remote holder” (amazon link). They need a small plastic binder clip (Figure 2) to link the squish’s clip to the remote holder (like this kind of product). This way, if there is too much tension, the clip pops open instead of destroying the silicone.

The tiny apple TV remote uses an adhesive patch (Figure 3), which is cut from an adhesive phone tether tab (amazon link). The adhesive in the picture is starting to wear out because of the curvature of the remote and stiffness of the tab, but it still works.

Her phone (far right) has a tethered Trenton, who is a real world-traveller now. This uses a ring from a lanyard-based phone tab in this sort of design (amazon link), but the design is not unique to this product. They are also sold as “phone lanyard patch” or “phone tether tab”. This is similar to the tiny remote, but need not be adhesive, as it can be held by a phone case.

Probably none of these links are the exact product we used, since these things have held for many years now. But the listings should be good enough to help you find what you need.

Automod deleted the original version of this post, probably assuming I was reselling.

Megan has stopped us from losing our remote every day for years.

She is the most hard working plushy in our house. It works because we look for Megan instead of the remote. The tether is called a “remote holder”.

Solid midgame Berengeria team

Composition: Berengeria (100% not replaceable), Gryphon (Promoted when available), Scarlett (not promoted), Radiant Knight (not promoted).

Details: The only critical equipment is Scarlet needing a Defender’s mace and Scarlet’s ribbon, but she could be replaced with a generic cleric. All non-Scarlet characters are frequently reassigned to different positions based on the matchup.

How it works: This team was very good for me in Expert mode for levels 12-27 in midgame. Even after playing with it so long, it’s hard for me to explain why it just works. The main thing is that the team is just so flexible for a wide variety of situations when you rearrange characters before a fight, as Berengeria/Miriam/Fran can swap around tanking duty, and Miriam can change between healing or damage. They just seem to have a really good blend of complementary coverage. There are some bad matchups like vs armor spam, but as a general purpose unit, it’s shocking how effectively they can punch above their weight (even without full promotions or full unit slot, so I delayed upgrading this unit until way later).

Advice on usage: The trick is that 3 characters can be readily moved between front/back row to defensively counter different opposing units. Scarlet (or Cleric) primarily give heal/barrier to shore up survivability, such as when the Gryphon is the lone front liner. Miriam changes between modes (heal, or magic guard, or squire cover, or status sword with Berengeria combo), while Berengeria is mostly bulky. Berengeria’s eye and death spin provide critical crippling support. Gryphon’s Feathering gives a lot more speed control, and moving units between rows like this lets you effectively fish for good RNG more effectively than usual. It can be tricky to play, but it’s weirdly reliable for a half-promoted 4 man group.

I’m posting it because the synergy is really not obvious.
