Parakiore Parking fine

Hi fellow swimmers! I took the leap and decided to not be so fearful of the parking trolls down at the new complex. However they still got me. I used the machine next to the main desk inside and entered our plate number. Next minute we get the letter with the $75 fine which I have emailed them with an appeal. I just sent it to admin@stellar.org.nz .

Next time should I feel brave enough to try again, should I just use the app on the phone and the qr code? Are others still having any problems? Its just annoying as I tried pretty hard and now feel like just swimming somewhere else next time. No other pools have this problem.

I literally have waiting months to visit, thinking it was 'technical' glitches with a new system, but must be more to it than that.

Hiace self contained certification in nz dream

I am considering setting up my hiace to be certified and have read a bit about the requirements. I think the hardest bit will be how to do the toilet so a. It complies the first time. B. Most future inspectors will pass it ie it feels quite open to interpretation. C. How to minimise how much space the toilet setup consumes. Has anyone had experience with a standard hiace? I don't know if it will be relatively easy by buying the a good toilet. Or just a nightmare and don't bother.

Any suggestions for me and my Lump sum to invest (probably Simplicity, but how).

Hi All,

I have recently received an inheritance likely to total 400K and need to do something with it (without just a massive spending spree). I'll preface this by saying I have been reading/researching as much as I can stomach, but its time to pull the trigger so to speak. Mostly I hear about Simplicity for my situation. After some time I have come up with an 'investment plan' if I can be so bold to call it that. sorry to bore anyone, but its a big decision for me and to be fair it is giving my analysis paralysis.

My situation is.

-Not wanting to touch it for 10 years.

-Our family of 3 are myself, partner (both early 50s) and 10 year old boy only.

-No debit, some kiwisaver already (around 150K currently).

-My partner and I are combined income of around 130K, I am around 80K, partner around 50K.

My plan:

Will retain some for an emergency fund/ study fund for boy which I'll keep somewhere else but the bulk go into something like a Simplicity Global High Growth fund. I am probably going to dollar cost average drop it into the Simplicity fund over the course of this year.

I feel that the global economy is kind of on a bit of a high at the moment and its a wierd time to drop a lump sum. Initially hold the balance in 3/6/9 month term deposits, and as each one finishes put the lump into the Simplicity fund.

There are a few things I wonder about, and am all ears open if any of you have strong opinions on...

  1. Simplicity or similar?

I have decided Simplicity Global High Growth fund is a good fit for me to keep my tax calculation straight forward. And a fairly safe bet long term with what seems like low fees. Any other alternatives I am open ears. with the caviet I am not a Trader! But am open to re reviewing suggestions about taking advantage of FIF rules maybe changing in near future. Especially if there are material gains to be made.

  2. Spliting for draw down control.

I did consider trying to split the investement between say US (SP500), Europe, Asia. mostly ignore NZ, but my AI friend suggested to not split it this way they all follow each other in general over time anyway. my AI friend suggested only spliting it with a portion in Simplicity Global High Growth fund NZ Hedged, and the other Un Hedged. This was at my suggestion so we could take advantage of fluctuations in NZ exchange rate when we do finally begin drawing down.

  3. Old age

Ideally I would just invest it and then if I decided to gift any to my boy, Id just do so when I chose. Except for asset testing could eventually stop me. I read of people putting amounts into a child account on his behalf. I have to give this more thought.

Thanks for reading if you got this far!

Perhaps a financial advisor would probably be wise right now, but even if I did have professional advice, I like to be educated before approaching that kind. And there is so much resource available online, I feel like one of you now (almost).

What car to tow up a hill witg

Is there a mid range tow vehicle that can tow a 1000kg braked trailer up a hill for a sustained distance without killing itself? We go on holidays to a beach that has a long hill to get to. The trailer feels a bit heavy than it should on my toyota ipsum and the wear is showing. And the front wheel drive is less than ideal. I know a landcruiser / ranger /pajero would be perfect, but wonder if there is something more mid that would be an upgrade still without braking the bank. I realise low range gear, 4x4, diesel would be optimal. Perhaps a torano or the like? Any recs? Or do we just have to lighten the load?

Edit: The hill in question is 4.5km of climb with average gradiant of 9% with sections of 11%. It's not Baldwin Street, but the duration is much further. Midrange would be like a car with less than 100k odo max preferably closer to 50k odo, and anything less than $30k would be a blessing. Prados and pajeros don't come into this category and are over kill I am sure.

So far there have been some good suggestion which will help me a lot, cheers
