which country has low tax on US rental unit?

We are imagining moving out of the US, and subletting our home in NYC.. But it seems we’d have to pay a ton of taxes on the rental income once we move to another country. Right now we effectively pay $0 tax on rental because of depreciation expense. European countries i’ve investigated (Spain, Sweden) don’t seem to use depreciation as a true rental expense, therefore the tax amount we have to pay would be high, not to mention we’d still owe taxes to NYC and NY while living abroad. Are there any countries out there that wouldn’t make us pay tax on the US rental income?

NY does my 19-year-old live at home child qualify for Medicaid?

my 19 year-old lives at home and earns about 6K at a part-time job. She is not a student. ChatGPT just told me that she would likely qualify for Medicaid, which is news to me. I do claim her as a dependent on our tax form. ChatGPT also says that the criteria for tax households are different than healthcare insurance households. Anyone know if this is all correct?

here’s the quote from chatgpt:

“For the New York State Department of Health eligibility system:
👉 Young adults with very low income can often qualify for Medicaid even when parents do not
This is because Medicaid rules:
treat low-income individuals separately in many cases
especially ages 19–20 (and sometimes up to 20 or 21 depending on category rules)”

what’s happening at the Beacon Theatre tonight?

anyone know what’s happening at the Beacon Theatre? Big parts of the sidewalk have tents over them and there are barricades lining the sidewalks of Amsterdam Avenue on both sides… Secret Service men abound at the backstage entrance yet there is nothing on the schedule for tonight.

Medicaid and Unemployment in NYS

Hi, my husband's company is going to close at the end of the month, so we will then qualify for both unemployment and (hopefully) Medicaid. I'm worried though that his getting unemployment might interfere with our being able to get Medicaid. Anyone know if that is a potential problem? If so, would it make sense to first apply for Medicaid and once we have that, then apply for unemployment?

Previously when we've applied to Medicaid, once you're on it you are "locked in" and stay on Medicaid for one full year --even if your income goes up. Do people know if that is still the case?

We are a family of 4. I myself earn barely anything at a very part time job ($300/mo).

Anyone know if there is a "little free library" or some such tiny free book library anywhere in the West 70s? We have a bunch of books to donate. Some are scholarly books, which St Agnes specifically told me they don't want.

I need to find a live-in aide for my mom, who lives on the UWS. She has an Alzheimers and needs help with most things these days. We have aides already via an agency, but due to the high turnover rate we'd like to find our own "private pay" aide who could work 2-3 days/week. Any idea where to find such an aide?
