System: Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition

Hello my fellow goths, queers, nerds, theatre kids, lovers & losers too.

My name is Fuzz (He/They), I am a 32 year old mess of neurons and meat. I'm an enjoyer of pro-wrestling, movies, music, true crime (shout out Last Podcast on The Left), and horrifically out of date pop culture references. I'm a recovering agoraphobe trying to figure it all out. I think kindness is sexy as fuck, and that pineapple belongs on pizza.

I've been playing TTRPGs for about 4 years now, with a little more than a year as a GM under my belt. Recently the group I was a player in dissolved. The undefeated tag team of scheduling conflicts and life unexpectedly hitting like a truck. Trying to find a stable group since then has been kind of a nightmare lol. So much so, that I'm saying fuck it; I'm gonna be brave and try to get a group together, and run a game myself.

This will be my first time taking the Storyteller's seat for Vampire. So I am liable to butcher a rule or two. But I don't think that gets in the way of telling some cool stories. What I may lack in experience, I make up for with my enthusiasm and charm lol.

So, what's the pitch?

The Pitch

The year is 2006. Rob Zombie's 'Educated Horses' is out, nobody knows what the title means. Justin Timberlake is bringing sexy back, and Daniel Powter is having a bad day. The internet is the Wild West, and more and more people are carrying tiny cameras in their pockets. Everywhere they go. 

Secrets are getting harder to keep.

In the city of Vancouver, droves of people are displaced from the DTES, while towers  of  glass continue to rise in Yaletown. Tension spikes as disparity grows. Kindred like to imagine they're above such things. But the parallels are becoming harder to ignore.

After more than sixty years of Independence, the Camarilla has finally come to town, disfiguring what used to be a place of refuge and escape. For decades, Vancouver was known across North America as a safe haven for runaways. An entire city claimed as Elysium. Now it's barely recognizable, a circus full of cutthroats.

Our coterie of Neonates has been thrown together as part of a fragile peace deal, the Camarilla's attempt to bury the hatchet in a longstanding feud between clans among their court.

Who I'm looking for

My hope is to get 3-4 folks together. If you dig messy characters, slow-burn mysteries, stories with weight, and a touch of silly, I think we'll get along just fine. I focus my games on story, as it's my favorite part of TTRPGs. So if you're cool with things occasionally going more based on vibes, that’s a plus too. All in all, just looking for some like minded people to hang out with on Friday nights. Play make pretend.

 

The technical stuff

Games will be run over discord for voice and text chat, and we'll be using Foundryvtt to keep track of sheets and rolls. Along with all the other bells and whistles. I like to keep session runtime to about 3-4 hours, I think that’s a sweet spot.
