Turning 50 next week and trying to plan one really good family dinner in Miami. Looking for recommendations from people who actually know the restaurant scene well.

Group is 2 adults, a 14-year-old, and two older teenagers. We’re staying in Bal Harbour, so trying to balance “worth the drive” vs convenience.

A few places I’m considering:

• Daniel’s in Coral Gables — looks great, but is the 45ish minute drive from Bal Harbour too annoying for a birthday dinner?
• Slim’s in Bal Harbour
• Ezio’s in North Beach
• Sunny’s
• Carbone (have been before and really liked the energy/scene — may grab a Resy there if I can’t decide)

For context, one of my favorite restaurants in Miami is LPM in Brickell, but that feels more date-night/adult-oriented than ideal with teenagers.

We tend to like:

• great ambiance / scene
• upscale but not stuffy
• steakhouses tend to work well for the family
• places that feel “Miami” without being total tourist traps

I’ve been to a lot of the usual spots already, so I’m trying to decide between going back to a known winner like Carbone or trying somewhere newer/different.
