Southwest Airlines hired a barge to transport 12.6M gallons of Jet Fuel to LA

Looks like fuel issues in this geopolitical environment are causing issues as expected. The airline hired a barge to send fuel from TX to CA via the Panama Canal this past spring in May to minimize disruptions if they were to occur with fuel shortages given the war which was a first in the company’s history.

JetBlue Leading Cancels in the country today

While everyone was affected by the same weather and NE conditions. The recovery efforts in the operation speak for themselves. Keep in mind JetBlue has a quarter of the fleet size of AA/DL/UA/ and Southwest. Yet they are #1 in cancels and higher percentage wise for their amount of flights they fly per day. They’ve really dropped the ball on the handling of this mess.

IAD Becomes DMVs Busiest Airport

Data for 2025 is out and IAD grew at 6.59% compared to 2024. While DCA shrank at -5.86%, notably BWI traffic was also down at -7.17%.

IAD had 13,859,569 Passengers Boarded
BWI came 2nd at 12,274,134
DCA 3rd at 12,750,892

Seems like the people have spoken as much hate as IAD gets the numbers speak for them selves as to where the foot traffic went.

Data Center Exhaust Plumes Ashburn

Driving into Ashburn from Leesburg noticed an increasing haze/ tint. I remember from last years heat wave power companies encouraged data centers to fire up their diesel generators to alleviate grid load, seems the same this year nice to see it blowing upstream (North) over residential areas too lol. Obvious air pollution going on and these diesel generators do not have emission devices like road diesel cars/ trucks as they’re exempt.
