Highs and lows on this one. First, we had to beg the cruise ship to let us off early (we had to schlep our own bags down to the gangway, but at least they helped after that). Got a cab at 7:15 for the 1h15 ride to the airport. Great cab driver, at least. Bag check goes without a hitch, get our boarding passes for the flight (amusingly with my TSA Touchless ID even for ATH, which doesn't have TSA at all, can't figure out why I never get it on CLT departures).

We're standing in the immigration queue when my wife realizes she's left her walking stick at the check-in counter. Oh, well. It wasn't that expensive, and we're going home anyhow. Get to the Goldair lounge, which isn't too bad. Try a few more Greek wines before we leave. Get down to the gate, and they're already up to group 3. No biggie. Turns out, while they've sent people down the jetway, nobody is getting on the plane (something is going on with the police at the door). While waiting, an AA agent is walking down with the walking stick. Since AA had only one morning departure, it was a good guess that someone on this flight had lost it. Thanks to the agents who got it back to us.

Got to the 787-8, and this is one of the really ragged-out Super Diamond configurations in desperate need of rework. Someone had stolen the B&O noise-canceling headsets from my seat (they offered me one of the PE regular headsets), the reading light doesn't work, and the divider between my wife and me is the rattiest, dirtiest thing I've seen (retracted). At least 5D is a great spot to watch the envious rest of the passengers board while I consume my pre-departure sparkling wine. Other than the flight attendant topping off my Zinfandel-blend with cab (probably improved it, both wines were crap), the flight was uneventful.

Took forever to get our priority tagged bags (came out well after most of the others), but at least the recheck in PHL was efficient. Head to the flagship lounge. Pretty oversold (and lots of people leaving luggage on adjacent unused seats and one guy in his bare feet on the adjacent chair). But one attendant in the lounge busted ass to make seats for us and was real attentive getting me more wine. I finally had to tell him I'd had enough.

Despite the AA website saying the A-concourse Admirals Club was closed it appeared to be open just fine for anybody who cares.

PHL-CLT flight again was uneventful. Two of our bags came out right away. Then the bags stopped. As this happens a lot at CLT, I keep my eyes on the other carousels and sure enough I see one of my bags coming down on the adjacent one. Make an anouncement "Philly Bags also coming out on 3" and go and retrieve my last two.

Shot from my wife's POV...
