DNR Closes Additional Areas of Cunningham Falls State Park Following Second Beaver Attack

I spent a lot of time at Cunningham Falls as a younger man camping with friends. There was this beautiful crystal pool of water at the bottom of on of the falls that although only about 25 feet in diameter was surprisingly deep. I remember that near the surface was was warm and relaxing, but if you dove down toward the bottom, you’d feel an icy cold even in the middle of summer. I don’t recall attack beavers.

L. Peter Deutsch's birthday today

Happy Birthday (Aug 7, 1946) to L. Peter Deutsch, computing luminary and inventor of the REPL -- as a teenager. Some background about the creation of the REPL is found on the fantastic Obsolescence Guaranteed site at https://obsolescence.dev/interactive-computing-history.html

The PDP-1 LISP 1.5 guide (1964) is also available online at https://s3data.computerhistory.org/pdp-1/DEC.pdp_1.1964.102650371.pdf

Tim Ewald - Clojure: Programming with Hand Tools

One of the best meta-programming talks that I've ever had the privilege to see live. Highly relevant in today's tech landscape.

TRS-80 Tandy Model 100 battle station!

This is the computer I was looking for when I was a kid, but I was not able to afford it at that time. The RS-232 port is really the "jack of all trades" for external device: back pack drive, portable diskette drive, wifi modem, external display, etc.
