need new laptop for school/overall ... RTX 2000 Blackwell ok for gaming
Planning to invest in a new laptop for school but I'd like to play the odd game. I know the Blackwell's aren't really designed for gaming but I'd like something on the robust/power saving end for toting around. It's likely I'll be doing some work with software and data analysis.
Overall I'm an ideal balance between a robust, power saving, performance (these don't not to be extreme), with some gaming.
I was leaning between the following:
HP ZBOOK X G1i 16 (on sale, hence the temptation)
- Windows 11 Pro
- Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 255H (up to 5.1 GHz with Intel® Turbo Boost Technology, 24 MB L3 cache, 16 cores, 16 threads)
- 32 GB memory;1 TB SSD storage
- 16" diagonal WUXGA display
- NVIDIA RTX PRO™ 2000 Blackwell Generation Laptop GPU (8 GB GDDR7 dedicated)
or
HP OMNIBOOK 7
- Windows 11 Home
- Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 processor
- NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4050 Laptop GPU (6 GB GDDR6 dedicated)
- 16 GB memory;1 TB SSD storage
- 16" diagonal 2K OLED touch display
Any advice appreciated.
