Tutorial: Trigger Vista Lighting Cues From ProPresenter

If you’ve ever wanted to use ProPresenter to trigger your lighting cues in Vista using MIDI, here’s a step-by-step tutorial (no extra hardware required; it's done over network).

This has actually eliminated the need for a lighting volunteer at my church, which frees those people up to serve in other roles on the production team. I haven't actually had to program lights in Vista in years; I'm able to just drive it all with macros from ProPresenter.

Highly recommend this route if you don't have a super complex lighting setup and want to get some time back every week. Hope you find it helpful!

Our New Faux Stained Glass Panel Stage Design

I finally got the chance to make a video showing our new faux stained glass stage design that we built with help from Portable Backdrops (not a sponsor, but they were super helpful in working with us to build this custom setup, so I want to shout them out). We needed to swap from our existing backlit set to a set that was lit from the front so that we could use the area behind the panels for storage.

Really pleased with how it turned out. This set should carry us through our construction phase until we have a new worship center next year.

Is anyone else still building sets? I'd love to see them, as I feel like I primarily see LED walls now.

Testing a $20 Shure SM57 Knockoff Mic (Sample Audio)

For those of us operating on a shoestring budget: If you've ever been tempted to buy a the $20 Shure SM57 knockoff on Amazon, I bought one and tested it. You can listen to audio samples for spoken word, guitar, and snare to see if you think it's worth the savings.

Creative Team Size vs. Congregation Size

I'm curious to hear from other churches: What size is your paid Creative/Comms/Production team compared to the size of your congregation? Included production staff, video producers, social media managers, communications directors, graphic designers, and any other creative positions that you have.

Make sure to notate full time, part time, or contract, as well as if you have one location or multiple.

A Thank You to the Community

Just wanted to say thank you to the community here for continuing to report promotional & market research posts. In the year of our Lord 2026, it seems that everybody and their mom has AI vibe-coded "a great new tool to help churches." We get 1-3 posts every day for things like this, whether it's someone promoting that they've "built" it or that they're doing market research. If we didn't remove these posts, this entire subreddit would just be billboards and ads for everyone trying to sell you something.

Speaking as a church employee, not as a mod: Please be very hesitant and do your research before you ever give money or data to any of these new tools/services. There are a lot of people going for quick cash-grabs out here by doing quick AI app builds. Do your best to vet them and confirm there are other happy customers out there.

Lots of people have access to AI tools and can build an app. Very few of them have a firm understanding of data privacy. And fewer still can & will fix these apps/services when they break. Stewarding your church's finances and your people's personal data responsibly is part of the role we have all been entrusted with.

Keep the reports coming, and we'll keep working to make the subreddit a clean and constructive place so that we can build the Kingdom together.

EDIT: Pasting from my comment below for some clarification. The issue here isn’t products that use AI. It’s people using AI to create products/services to SELL to churches (especially when they have no ability to SUPPORT that product/service), then coming here to promote those products under the guise of "creating conversation." The barrier to entry on coding with AI is very low and requires very little skill/wisdom, so there has been a barrage of people trying to sell things on our subreddit. We received a message from a mod over at r/worshipleaders saying they've been experiencing the same thing.

If you build a tool that you want to GIVE away for free on here to help save other churches time/money, that’s great. If you want to post some helpful AI prompts/skills that have benefited you, that’s also great.

On the other hand: If a user has a Reddit account that’s 4 months old and the only posts are market research and posting about something that they’re selling, that user is not welcome here.

"Selling" is the operative difference, especially when it is deceptive. If you want to advertise on Reddit, go to ads.reddit.com. You can even use the Community Targeting feature to advertise to specific subreddits. But don’t post here pretending your church just found a great new product/service that you want to share, when in reality, you are the one that created that product/service.

How to Repair a Behringer X32

Hey everybody! I recently bought a used Behringer X32 from Facebook Marketplace and was unpleasantly surprised to see there aren't many videos showing how to fix these things when they break, so I recorded some tutorial videos as I was fixing this one.

The repairs are relatively easy to do, the only potentially challenging part is that some of them require soldering. If you have an X32 that has any issues, there are step-by-step instructions in the videos in this playlist. The repair tutorials there are for:

Fixing Slow or Dead X32 Faders
This is the most common one I see. This repair also requires soldering, unless you're lucky and it just needs a new rubber belt for the fader. This repair requires soldering.

Fixing a Broken X32 XLR Input Jack
Sometimes XLR cables get stuck and the input jack gets broken trying to get it out of there. This repair also requires soldering.

Fixing the Rotary Encoder Knobs Under the X32 Screen
On older X32's, these knobs get oil, dust, and gunk in the switches and the knobs don't respond very well when you try to use them. They're typically jumpy or they scroll back and forward when you're only scrolling one way. No soldering required for this repair.

Replacing an X32 Scribble Strip LCD
Sometimes the scribble strips go blank, have blurry text, or just die. This one is an easy replacement, no soldering required.

I hope these videos help some of you out there with X32's that need repairs. Don't listen to people who say they're trash or that they're not worth fixing. Anyone that tells you that is spending someone else's money on gear.

Cleaning Behringer X32 Rotary Knobs

If you have an older Behringer X32 and the rotary encoder knobs under the LCD screen are jumpy, unresponsive, or just don't work, I made a video tutorial showing the process to fix them so they work good as new. It's a relatively easy fix, there's no soldering required; just some DeOxit Fader F5 spray and a screwdriver.

I bought this X32 used off FB Marketplace and it needed some TLC. I was surprised to find that there aren't many repair videos out there for this console, which seems odd based on how many of these are out there.
