This may be a little too far down the AI rabbit hole for a few of you, but I'd like to report my results from just a few days of work.

It started with Hermes Agent. No this is not an ad for them, not affiliated in any way. I jsut use it as a harness because it suits my needs, you may want to use openwebui or openclaw or any of the harnesses out there, that's not what important.

I gave it the root password to my debian vm and proxmox host, and the AI SSH'd in and first setup an API key for hygiene purposes then used it to create an ssh key on the debian box (again, for hygiene) and setup usb passthrough on proxmox so the lxc could talk to the hardware, then installed gnu radio tools on the debian host, establilshed communcations with the hackrf porta pack, correctly determined what it was, and updated the firmware to the latest mayhem for me.

It then started scanning the band from bottom to top and built a db of local signals in the area to expect. Its scanning the entire available spectrum every 2 seconds and notifies me when it sees a new signal. It then switches to fine resolution and listens real hard at max sample res to get a good idea of exactly what it is, then reports the whole thing back to me.

i'm pretty blown away by all this. I expected some kind of result but wow.

2nd edit: I'm thinking about giving him a yaggi on a servo he can control so I can get direction as well as range/signal strength.

3rd edit: We just chased a signal down to an undershielded crystal oscillator in the plc that controls my 3d filament dryer. Its SCREAMING in rf at 10mhz.

So I'm a radio nerd from way back but never could get the hang of gnuradio or any of the sdr software packages and never really put in the time. I had an old hackRFrev1 from way back in the day but never used it much.

Fast forward to last week, I hooked it up to an old pc and gave Hermes agent access to it and asked to see what he could see. BAM gnu radio tools installed. receiver configured. Sweep in progress.... i see... a cell tower uplink kand downlink, your neighbor is absolutely shouting on wifi channel one, and there's an aircraft overhead requesting permission to land from *nearby airport*

Fellas, that shit was scary simple. I ended up spinning up a whole nuther instance of hermes and named him Sparky, he just runs my radios. He's scanning right now, ready to alert me if a new signal pops up he's never seen before, right b fore he clicks to high resolution mode (we call it "staring") and analyzes the signal and gleans every piece of information from it he can so he can give me a full report later. I mean damn.

so I have my pops old deer rifle and I’m trying to remove the old weaver mount and 1” scope rings to put some 34mm baddies on it along with a scope from this century. the old tasco world class 6-24 was great for hunting in the mountains of wv but I need something with a reticle in mils and turrets that lock and return to zero.

hence my problem. my father in his infinite wisdom (and may he rest in peace) decided the proper thread locker was loctite industrial strength superglue he picked up from the mine maintenance office at work.

anyone have any tips for removing 7/64 Allen head screws that were placed 30 years ago by a redneck that did NOT want them to come off and did not foresee the invention of the picatinny rail ? I am bending my Allen wrenches and twisting my t-handle. Put a torx socket in there and felt the screw stripping so I stopped. It will NOT budge. Thanks!
