I cant get my hognose to eat :(
Hello! I’m a new reptile owner and I got my first snake, a hognose. When picking the species I knew about the hunger strikes but I’m finding it difficult to get him to eat. I got him about a month ago and he seems acclimated to his enclosure (exploring, burrowing, etc.) but every time I try to feed him he just assumes defensive postures. I’ve been trying to leave the mouse if I can’t get him to strike but he still won’t take it! I don’t know if I’m just being overly concerned about his feeding habits cause I’m new to this but I was told for his size he should be eating about once a week. I was told he’s eating frozen-thawed hoppers and ideally I don’t want to resort to live feeding. Do you think it’d be beneficial to try giving him smaller mice, coating the mouse in salmon, or even trying quail eggs?
Wilbur photos as payment :) pls help
