Looking a recommendation for something to help me relax for a few days.

I took 2 weeks off between jobs and I have been working like crazy on my house the whole time. I start on Monday so I have 4 days to myself.

I built a decent PC Last year and honestly haven’t put it to good use.

I enjoy shooters. I grew up on call of duty and halo. I miss making friends online. I have tried the battle royale games like apex and don’t really like them but I’m willing to try something new.

I did get into Factorio for a while but I’m burnt out on it.

Something cheap would be great but I don’t mind spending a little bit

Thanks in advance, if you want to link up and show me the ropes to your suggestion then DM me. I’m 32 from the south and just a normal married dude with a kid on the way.

How do you mentally manage the expensive months?

I’m naturally pretty frugal and I have kept a spreadsheet on my monthly expenses for the past 5 years.

The years are pretty even, like within a couple thousand dollars of each other. But some months are just out of control. Like this month I have doubled what I spent last month. Some of that is due to some larger purchases and my insurance that I pay every 6 months.

It’s mentally taxing on me because I know I’m not doing anything super out of the ordinary but I look at the numbers and it’s stressful.

Rural area commuting

I live in a somewhat rural area and work in the next town over. It’s 12 miles one way no matter what sort of route you take.

Theres one route that’s mostly 55mph backroads that crosses a large highway intersection then comes through a small town with no bike paths.

The other route is all highway.

Should I get an e-bike? I think I would be fine physically but it’s stressful riding on a road with no bike path for so long. I’m not as worried about the early morning commute as I am about the ride home.

Pork butt is the most forgiving meat to smoke on the planet.

I smoke a lot of pork butts. It’s my go to when family comes over. I have yet to have one come out bad in the past 10 years.

Season it however you want, run your smoker anywhere from 225-350. Moisten with whatever you choose every 30 min until you hit 160. Wrap it in foil and leave it alone until you hit 200-205. Pull it off and let it rest for at least an hour.

You cannot screw it up. It doesn’t care how much your temp fluctuates or if you don’t keep it moist. It will be fine. Just sit back relax and drink your beer.
