Looking for any advice for an upcoming late August - early September backpacking trip. Thinking of hammock camping in the trinity alps and not bringing a sleeping pad, is that a wise way to go in that area where a lot of the trees have been affected by fires, trees are widely spaced, open areas are common (these are all just web photo observations, I haven't been to that area myself, I haven't researched routes yet either). Backpackers with previous experience in the NorCal Wilderrness throw your advice at me please!
