Bottles & weaning

Hi all,

I was wondering if I could have some experience shared in regard to weaning and the amount of bottles your babies had when they started solids?

I’m a FTM so it’s all a learning curve, but my baby is 7 months old and we started his weaning journey around 14 days ago. We didn’t start when he was 6 months on the dot as we felt he wasn’t quite ready yet.

He seems to be getting on well with weaning but he’s certainly not finishing any meals yet. He’s finished one whole portion once so far, but hasn’t rejected anything and has eaten around 6 spoonfuls of every solid meal (I’m doing homemade puree/mash and finger foods (basically just veggie sticks and he’s eaten very little) - following Charlotte Stirling-Reed’s plan).

In terms of formula, he’s been having around 4.5-5 210ml bottles per day. Sometimes he’ll leave some, most of the time he’ll finish a bottle. I’m a little confused about the whole cutting out bottles/reducing formula down and a little concerned he’s still having too much. I’ve tried to cut him down to 4.5 feeds a day at 210ml but he’s waking up at night very upset and hungry, so he’s basically still having the full 5 bottles along with a puree/mash at lunch time.

Any light or experience shared would be appreciated. Please be gentle, like I said I’m a first time mum and it’s all quite confusing to be honest and just wanting to do what’s best for my boy and not have him be hungry, but not over feeding him at the same time. My MIL keeps asking when he’ll be having his milk cut down and it’s stressing me out a little 😭🤣🤣

Thanks xxx
