Is this plant heathy?

I think she’s a begonia but her leaves are so small, I’m worried she has some type of deficiency

She gets indirect sun and I water her like once a week, also spray her with water sometimes

The soil is the mix the plant place did, it feels quite solid

A couple months ago she got all these baby leaves when I moved her to a new spot with more sun but after that they didn’t exactly develop and the bigger leaves on the bottom keep falling off

Update: My dad finally listened, and the enclosure is looking better (Thanks for all the advice!)

Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/ballpython/s/rq496OBfX3

After a long sit down heart to heart talk where I cried a lot he seems to see my point

Idk if he’s cooperating bc he sees his wrong doings or bc he’s just upset that I’m upset, but anyways a win is a win

He bought the substrate and I bought the fake plants (I think I underestimated the size of the enclosure and didn’t get enough)

I would appreciate some pointers on:

-Do I need to glue the fake plants on the glass? I think i do, but is it safe to use tape?

-I put a black thing on the side to help him feel safer, is that silly or does it work?

-I put coconut fibers (I wet my hands and then touched them, so they are only slightly humid) on the bottom bc I read that it helps keep it humid. Is that valid? - it’s the second picture

-Is there any positioning issue with the things in there? I’m not really into snakes so I just did my best with what I read online, and the tips I got here

The heating mat is going to arrive in 1-2 days, so we still have that issue. But the mat is short term, I plan to ask for a whole new enclosure (a properly designed one) as my birthday gift this month, with the open ceiling so we can do the lamps

His name is Mandela btw, don’t think I mentioned before, but it’s written on the wall of his little home.

I just put him in there, he’s exploring everything, and I’m keeping an eye out for any possible issues. I’m scared he will knock the plants over or eat them (is that a possibility?)

I need help to improve the life of my dad’s ball python

So I’ve been away from home for a long time and I knew that he got a snake but didn’t see any pictures or anything

But I just came home to visit and this is what I find

There no humidity or temperature control and I hate everything about the snake’s little house (based on the research that I did)

And it’s kinda cold around here this time of year but he refuses to let me do anything do the snakes enclosure

What can I do to make sure he’s warm and safe without putting anything in there? Is there a way to protect him from outside of the cage? Like does a blanket work or is that silly? (Putting it on the glass)

He seems to be doing okay though (to the naked eye)

UPDATE:

Just post an update on another subreddit!

EXTRA INFOS:

He has very strong external validation of his behavior. Including vets (ignorant ones, at least in the realm of reptiles)

About the snakes behavior: it just sits in that little house, even at night.

Gets really defensive (and mad) when I bring it up, I don’t know how to get my point across to him (if it helps understand the situation he’s almost 70 and I’m 22 so he doesn’t respect what I say at all)

He also seems to think the rules don’t apply to him and that he knows best. So even if I bring up the comments in this post he will still be stubborn.

This snake is like 2-3 years old and hasn’t had any major health issues apparently (which only makes it more difficult for him to listen to me) and its skin also looks good.

He also has other reptiles but they don’t stay in this house, I haven’t had the courage to ask to see them yet. Probably same or worse situation. Probably worse.

UPDATE:

Just bought a heating pad and it will get delivered in 2-3 days. I’m really worried because the temperatures here will drop to 60 degrees next week and I swear on my life this man does not care.

When it arrives I’ll put it in there, and when he notices (he doesn’t check on the snake everyday) I’ll stand my ground
